Will be an awesome movie if done right - Spielberg does King

The Talisman is in pre-production. The guy who who wrote Reindeer Games and The Ring is writing the screenplay so it will be dark -- not that mid-career King and Peter Straub needed help in being dark.

Loved the original, hated the sequel.

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

I think I read the sequel, but I don't remember much about it so I guess it didn't make an impression. But I loved the original.

I'll shell out the bucks to see this one. I thought the screenplay for "The Ring" was an improvement over the Japanese original (no matter what the fanboys say).

I liked the sequel. Both times I read it. And Talisman... as a movie? Are they on crack? Have they looked at an actual copy of the book? I don't require movie makers actually read books they cross-media-ize, but they should at least have been in the same room as the thing at some point. Seriously, unless this is going to be 17-20 hours long, how are they going to manage it? Besides badly, of course.

They could send us to an alternate dimension where time moves more slowly.

Or they could go straight to mini-series like they did with The Stand.

Black House (the sequel ) was excellent. I need to reread Talisman...maybe after I finish iteration #75 of The Stand. I'm with Eris, it's a long, deeply involved book. I'm not sure how it could be a single movie, and it's going to have to be a long one...3 hours at least!

any word on when it will be out, George?

Just saw sometime in 2007. I'm guessing late. They haven't done casting yet.
