Anyone catch Katie's last day?

Anyone care?

My wife and I actually began to watch the last hour, saw the first of what were undoubtedly many montages and the power cut off.

Took it as a sign from God that we had better stuff to do, and the power came back on in a few minutes. So we Tivo'd it to see when she would break.

I do give her all props for the on-air colonscopy. And she can anchor the news. I just thought it was amazing how many people are moved by this. My Google deskbar and the blogsphere have been crawling with it all day.

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

Re Anyone catch Katie's last day?

She's been part of the number one show in the country for over 15 years. I didn't get to watch it because I was dealing with the kids and the Tivo remote is MIA (grrr... men).

Yes, I was moved by it. I've been a faithful Today watcher for a long time. It's one of those things that when my girlfriend called me about the first plane on 9/11, I turned on Today, and Katie was there. There were a lot of things like that... seminal moments in life when you saw her. Being a SAHM for the past 6 plus years, I probably saw a lot more of the Today show than many folks here.

Re Anyone catch Katie's last day?

When I was home in the mornings I watched GMA. I was never a Katie fan.

Expected to see her break down and blubber. She held it together well, even when they kept talking about her deceased husband. Hey, leaving any job after 15 years has got to be tough. I've only done it after 8, and I choked up when they were clapping. Good for her.

Loved the M*A*S*H joke and sly references to CBS.

Re Anyone catch Katie's last day?

I watched the first half hour or so then had to go take on the day.

I have watched Katie Couric here and there ever since she replaced Deborah Norville (who was cast as a villain for stealing Jane Pauley's job while Jane was on maternity leave.)

I found her enthusiasm and candor refreshing, and it was interesting watching all the different interviews, hairstyle and hemline changes over the years.

I think Meredith Vieira will be an excellent replacement.
