WINDHOEK, Namibia (AP) -- Following in the steps of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Britney Spears is considering a Namibian birth for her next baby, a government official said Friday.

Good Lord, she's going to reproduce again?! Why? What did we do wrong? |

| | Re Please, please save us from this Spears affliction | | Really? She is as much on my radar screen as, well, I can't think of anything. Back to back, huh? Well that works sometimes. I wonder what kind of car this kid will get to drive. |

I genuinely feel sorry for her. She has a mother who is totally willing to rag on her trashy-a$$ husband in public, but won't go by the house and show the girl how to parent her child (and contrary to popular myth, the art of motherhood does not come "magically" to every woman). She has paparazzi who literally trip her in the street and hound her until she cries. She gets publicly ridiculed for driving with said child on her lap, which is something I know my grandpa used to do, and probably hers as well down South. A simple "I know you loved that when you were little but backroads and city streets are just not the same" comment (followed days later by a "I know putting a baby in a car seat is like wrestling a greased pig through a burning loop sometimes, but it really needs to face backward not forward" comment) would have sufficed instead of being made a legal poster child for child safety laws in California.
She has poor taste in men, no parenting skills, she is 24 and has been pampered herself for quite some time and is struggling to switch to a mother role, I can't stand her music, and her career is in the hole, but does she really deserve the glee with which the paparazzi is chasing their "fallen prissy princess"? I mean, give her a break already, and maybe a gift certificate for some parenting classes.

| | Re Please, please save us from this Spears affliction | | You know, I ain't buying the driving part. I don't really care how she was raised. Our mothers were told to smoke and drink while pregnant. Does that mean that one of their children should knock back two shooters and light up in their second trimester? Of course not and neither does the driving thing.
I'm sorry the star wants privacy. Stay inside. The world will forget about you soon enough and you can venture out in public. But don't be part of a machine that auctions off pictures for $4 million and whine about your screwups being caught in public. Live the life with its warts and all or go get a job at Monster.com. You don't get it both ways. |

| | Re Please, please save us from this Spears affliction | | What George said. Plain and simple. She is trash and you can't cry "Oh, they won't leave me alone" and then go whine to Matt Lauer about not being left alone.
And maybe you should figure out how to parent the FIRST child before you get pregnant with the second. Just saying. Keep in mind that her FIRST child is YOUNGER THAN BUTTER. And she's already pg again. |

| | Re Please, please save us from this Spears affliction | | I have to admit I'm not up to date on what Britney is doing, so I just read the transcript of her Dateline interview. OMG the girl is frigging nuts. Did she and her husband really have some freaky reality show based on their marriage? She went on Letterman to announce the pregnancy? And she claims to deserve resepct and privacy? Sorry, chica, the game isn't played that way.

| | Re Please, please save us from this Spears affliction | | That's where I was at, Tina. It's like she's Courtney Love without the really good drugs and better CD collection. STFU.
You know, I thought at first that the Angelina Jolie thing was a stunt, but I've read up on her, and she does a lot of good stuff for the UN. Don't care for her movies, but good for her. WTF is Britney doing there?
Tell you what, cookie. Go help the homeless and hungry like Jolie did. Then you can seek refuge among them. |

Exactly. As I pointed out to G, Angelina Jolie may be batshit crazy, but she puts her money where her mouth is. They sold the rights to pictures of Shiloh and donated ALL THAT MONEY. Rumor has it the US rights ALONE were $4 million from People (and btw, wicked cute baby... HUGE lips). Britney would sell the clothes off her kid's back on eBay and keep every dime. |

| | Re Please, please save us from this Spears affliction | | I was in shock at how much she made her life public knowledge. I never paid attention to her antics. If she wasn't singing, I was happy.
And yes, I've heard about what Jolie does for charity. That's excellent.

| | Re Please, please save us from this Spears affliction | | I read again today in a fairly reputable source that Jolie gives one-third of her income to charity. That's pretty cool. Britney will make an excellent housekeeper at the Jolie-Pitt household. |

| | Re Please, please save us from this Spears affliction | | I feel sorry for her because she seems lost, lonely, and empty. She seems to use the spotlight of stardom to fill in emotional gaps in her life. She doesn't seem to know how to parent her child. She doesn't seem to know how to parent herself. Her marriage is terrible and her husband treats her like dirt. Her mother is useless. I could go on, but I'll stop.
I see plenty of press and public willing to rake her over the coals for being an unoriginal, whiny, moron (and she is all of that). For whatever reason, in spite of my dislike of her music and her life choices, in the end I feel sorry for her. No one who is supposed to be close to her is helping her learn how to parent herself or her kid, or telling her she is making poor life and career decisions, or anything. In the end, Britney's life and choices are Britney's and Britney's alone, but compare it to your own for a minute: do you have a true support network of friends and family to help you out of your mistakes and fumbles? She doesn't. She has a fawning, mewling group of sycophants and K-Fed. Wow.
Oh, and the paparazzi thing? Have you watched the footage of them chasing Britney? It's insane. They go far and above what is necessary to get their pictures, getting too close to her, jostling her and the baby and whoever else is with her and generally putting her in some truly unsafe positions. For what??
I agree that in the spotlight of fame you should expect to be sought after. Britney was sought after before the baby, and before K-Fed, but it was never at this level of intrusion. I'm not sure what changed in how the paparazzi treats her as opposed to other stars, but she never minded publicity before when it was done with a little respect for safety and space, and I'm sure if they backed off a little she wouldn't mind it again - she has been under the lights her whole life. | |
