Re Harry Potter

She's so far behind the times, it's laughable. Doesn't she know banning HP is so 2000-ish?

Re Harry Potter

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I didn't realize this was still an issue.

Re Harry Potter

Harry Potter has become the most often banned book series of the 21st Century.

You can read about it here and here.

There is a form you can find on both sites for reporting a book in distress. Even if it is in your news, report it. Especially in the current political climate where freedoms are hanging on by threads.

Re Harry Potter

Yeah, and I think the following paragraph says a lot about what this school board is dealing with.

Quote:
In June, the county's library board eliminated the $3,000 that had been set aside to buy Spanish-language fiction in the coming fiscal year. One board member said the move came after some residents objected to using taxpayer dollars to entertain readers who might be illegal immigrants.
'Cause everyone who speaks Spanish must be an illegal immigrant and heaven knows that illegal immigrants are less than human and don't deserve such luxuries as reading.

They should also eliminate language classes in the schools. If we only speak English all those crazy illegals couldn't find jobs!!

Re Harry Potter

My little guy's piano teacher also teaches Spanish at our parish school.

Horror of horrors, he has storybooks in SPANISH! Familiar stories translated from English into Spanish. What a terrible person. I guess I better find a new piano teacher.

Re Harry Potter

Well, I guess the Harry Potter books take the heat off D & D and Magic the Gathering. There used to be dire warnings issued about both of those.
