Re The new crop of TV shows

Comcast has the first episode of Dexter onDemand for free. I don't have Showtime, but this is giving me a chance to see it.

I like it. Damn, I guess I'll have to wait to rent the DVDs.

Re The new crop of TV shows

We're liking Justice for the new shoes. Have Vanished stored and haven't touched it.

Although it is an old show every review I read tells me I must watch The Wire. Anyone here watch that show? Is it really that good?

And I"m a sap, but I think Neil Patrick Harris and (sigh) Ally Hannigan are funny on How I Met Your Mother, which remains a bad Friends ensemble. It was like watching Lisa Kudrow ruin years of time playing opposite David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

Re The new crop of TV shows

Studio 60's been given a reprieve, the studio's ordered 9 more episodes despite lower-than-expected ratings for now. Kidnapped, meanwhile, reportedly will be truncating the season to show what happens in fewer episodes, so those who got hooked like me will still know how it turns out instead of a sudden cancellation.

Re The new crop of TV shows

George, I watched a couple of episodes of The Wire when I still had a Netflix account. Pretty damn good from what I saw.

I'm gonna Netflix it too. Seems worth a shot and all it costs is some time. Thanks!

Re The new crop of TV shows

I like Justice. I want to see the new show with Taye Diggs (whom I've been a fan of ever since I saw "When Stella Got Her Groove Back," although he has never been quite so mesmerizing since he lost the Jamaican accent. That Jamaican accent was pure gold, as great as Monica's voice in "Touched by an Angel." A trademark voice. You could lose yourself in it. I really think it was the "Stella" accent that propelled him into stardom.)

Too bad, it was interesting. Although, I didn't go out of my way to make sure I watched it.

According to the network, the remaining six episodes of "The Nine" will return later in the season.
That's a euphemism for "will not return later in the season." Networks do that all the time -- say a show is coming back but not actually bringing it back. Once a show gets pulled, it almost always stays pulled.

Re The new crop of TV shows

Ugh...didn't get to watch it. I'd caught myself up through TWOP, watched and episode, and decided I almost liked the TWOPs better. At least I'm not totally heartbroken I didn't get to watch it. I'll read it next week, and maybe catch the next episode.

I'm waiting for the DVDs.

Re The new crop of TV shows

I'm really enjoying the second season of "The Wire" (on DVD).

Have been watching very little on broadcast TV, but a local station has started (or maybe they've been doing it for a while and I only recently noticed) showing episodes every night of the old black-and-white "Perry Mason" show. I watched one the other night -- the period details were great, but it was SO unbelievable! I mean even more so than it had seemed the first time around. Still fun, though.

Deadwood on DVD.

The Closer.

So far summer broadcast TV is not especially thrilling.

Re The new crop of TV shows

There's a new series on USA called Burn Notice about a CIA agent who gets cut loose and starts working to find out who got him burned and why.

Burn Notice

We were less crazy about The Singing Bee with Joey Fatone.
