Eric Clapton or Bob Dylan signatures?

What I'd really, really, really like to give my father this Christmas is something autographed by one of his heroes.

I don't want to buy some mass-produced or faked memerabelia garbage.

I'd really like to have something given to one of these guys, have them write a quick note to my dad (using his name), and sign it.

Any one have any clue how I could get this done?

If I can't do it in time for Christmas, I'd love to make it his birthday gift instead. That gives me a little more time to do it

If you're not comfortable posting it in public, feel free to pm me.

Going to be difficult to get a personalized note without a connection. There are reputable autograph sellers on eBay (look for real companies without negatives). Depending on the item signed, be prepared to spend several hundred dollars for a non-personalized item. You might go for something that was done with a collaborator. Dylan will be harder, but Clapton recorded with so many artists, especially lesser known ones, that you might be able to pick up something signed by someone who played with Clapton.

And believe it or not, little Jimmy Osmond (who I think is my age...sheesh) runs a collectibles site that has big names. They sell stuff like Elvis ($2350) or Celine ($700), but nothing is personalized.

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

Someone would pay $700 for The Praying Mantis' sig?

We picked up a Springsteen autograph on eBay for less than a hundred for my boss a couple of years ago. I agree with George that it's one of the better ways to get authentic, if you are careful.

Jimmy Osmond used to run a show in Branson too (he still might, but I don't really know). I got to meet him, whoopdedoo.
