| | I'm so excited...heard late last week that Billy Joel is coming to Omaha in April and a group of us from work are planning on going.
Billy's one of my musical heroes...I've loved his stuff since I was in junior high, and I've never gotten a chance to see him live.
I can't wait!!!!

| | He tours with his Steinway. I have always loved Joel, but have never seen him in person. He had a great PBS concert a few years ago, though... |

| | He and Ben Folds are probably the two I've seen the most. I know I've seen Folds more than 10 times. Probably closer to 15 or 20 for Billy Joel. His shows with Elton John were amazing, but he's great solo.
Lynn, besides watching him (he'll keep slipping into his classical piece), watch Mark Rivera who is the unofficial bandleader, plays sax and a bunch of everything else. I've also seen a great keyboardist named Dave Rosenthal tour with him. He was a fantastic pianist. His reach had to be better than Billy Joel's.
Oh, and everyone will sing Piano Man with him. It's sort of tradition. He does some good covers too. You'll have a great time. |

Where've you been and what have you done with Bridgette?
Haven't seen either of you in ages.
And where's Eris? What's going on there? |

| | I saw one of his dual shows with Elton John about four years ago. Phenomenal. On a related note, saw 'Movin Out' in its last performance on the road this week. The dancers, knowing they would never do it again, really laid it on and it was fabulous.

| | I agree with you, MNM. Tharp did a nice job with the show, and if the vocalist has a strong theater voice, you don't get some of Mr. Joel's faux falsettos. Good show -- pretty good soundtrack. |

I am just in awe. We had total nosebleed seats and were behind these really annoying guys who giggled during Captn Jack (when Billy sings "masturbate", but it was totally wonderful. George was right, watch the orchestra/band...the keyboardist is amazing, and the woman percussionist is terrific.
Billy joked and talked a lot between songs, played almost the exact set from the 12 Gardens Live CD (no Billy the Kid ), thanked the "people in the shitty seats" (he seems to like the word shitty, which makes me laugh because it's always been one of my favorite words) because they are helping him pay his car insurance.
Really an amazing experience, and I'd see him again in a second. There were some logistics with the Qwest that were inexcusable (the speakers blocked the big screens ), but all in all, totally worth it.
