Sandy is spot-on. Guitars are phallic symbols and always have been.
I actually got the impression that the half of Prince's guitar that was showing looked like a demonic tail, which I thought was a very cool effect for almost no effort.
The set was perfect. I've grown tired of listening to the music press whine that Prince is past his prime, etc. The issue was, "Did he entertain you?" Oy. I loved the fact that with a huge hit catalog of his own that he covered songs.
Having defended Prince, I must say that while Billy Joel appeared sober, he really isn't the guy you pick to sing our National Anthem. Would love to hear him do a version of Ray Charles doing America, but even me -- one of the most ardent Joel fans I know -- had trouble with the "vocal stylings". It was like listening to Rod Stewart cover the greats of the last half century and then listen to Frank and Tony and all the other folks do the originals.
Game: Rex Grossman is not a Super Bowl champion. That said, Rex needed more time to throw. The pocket collapsed on him too many times, and he forced bad throws. (Hint: when a really good safety is taking an angle on your primary receiver who is already being covered man-to-man by your corner, don't force the pass) Peyton called a good game seeing how he apparently intends to spend his career calling audibles at the line. And Addai was the MVP in my book, not Peyton. |
