We've done it.

The boyfriend discovered a list of 15 geek movies to see before you die last week, and, on noting that a) We've already seen 13 of the 15 and b) the video store didn't have season 5 of Angel this week, we decided to pick up the last two on the list.

Unfortunately, the last two were Brazil and Repo Man.

Fortunately, I also rented Angel Heart, which was a pretty good antidote.

I'm almost thinking of coming up with my own list of Must See Movies, but it wouldn't necessarily be "geek" movies. Well, not *just* geek movies. Whatever that means.

Anyway, I also checked the list of "81 movies for geeks that do not suck", and although I'm going to have to agree to disagree with them about what constitutes "sucking" vs "not sucking" (Primer, for instance, sucks) I've watched 69 of them.

Re We've done it.

I've seen five of the fifteen and 45 of the 81. A lot of the 81 are ones I want to see, but haven't had the chance.

Re We've done it.

Angel Heart was good, but after seeing Al Pacino as the devil in Devil's Advocate, Robert DeNiro just wasn't as scary. Which is odd, since I generally credit DeNiro as being a better Actor than Pacino.

Angel Heart, wasn't that Mickey Rourke? He's a scarey dude.

I glanced through the list earlier and haven't even heard of most of those films. Except The Grail, of course. Gotta quote The Grail, just for posterity.

Re We've done it.

I love Mickey Rouke. He's so... He's like some weird cross between Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. Only with actual acting talent.

Re We've done it.

I pwned that list of 81 geek films. Seen them all. And the list doesn't have even one Miyazaki film on it (hello, Princess Mononoke?)

Pifft.

I liked Primer, but I don't think most people would. And it took me 2 viewings to like it. It's really, really geeky. Like "do you want to do some integrals or watch Primer again?" geeky.

Yep. He was Marv in Sin City. Poor, sweet, innocent Marv. Just about broke my heart.

Re We've done it.

Miyazaki, yeah! Aren't all his movies geek movies? I think I've seen all of them, after years of living with anime fans. Kiki's Delivery Service made us all want to live in a cobblestoned European village.
