| | OMG! I would so have recognized him. What I don't get is how anyone listening to that wouldn't have just had to stop, even for a few minutes?
Ok, I admit - I stop to listen to street musicians. Most make me hurry along, but there are some who are really good if you look long enough. Nothing, though, like Joshua Bell. I would have plotzed to see him like that! |

| | I KNOW! Can you imagine? Then again, some friends and I were chased by a T driver from a T stop for singing, so I guess street performers aren't for everyone, but Joshua. Bell.
Even if you aren't a classical music fan, how can you not KNOW something's up? |

| | I'll be honest. I probably would not have stopped. I have been harrassed too many times by street musicians who aren't willing to let you go by without putting money in their 'hat', so to speak.
I would, in all likelihood, done as the one gentleman did, and listened from a distance. I certainly would not have recognized him, but I do recognize talent.
Thank you so much, Pippa, for sharing this article. I have passed it along to a few friends that I think will really appreciate it. |

| | This was on the news tonight. I think it amazing, in the video clip they showed (on ABC) that not one person stopped. But... it showed some children trying to stop and listen, and their parents pulling them away.
I think I would have stopped. I know I would have recognized the talent, but not him. Yet I think it would be hard to just walk by and not stop. But that is just me.

| | There's a guy who is very, very good who plays in Penn Station. He's been doing it for years, was on a documentary about street musicians, etc. Very entertaining patter, always in black pants and a "Puffy Shirt."
Then once a friend of mine and I were at a Gathering of the States in Delaware for Eastern Star. She also took the train from Penn every night. We went to the auditorium for post-dinner entertainment when who took the stage but this violinist. We were in the back, and when we spotted him, we turned to each other and just about screamed, "The guy from Penn Station!" He was wonderful, a real pro, and put on a concert interspersed with mini-lectures on classical music. We swam upstream at the end of the concert to get to the stage and introduce ourselves.
To this day, when I see him at Penn Station a few times a year, I wait for a break and go up to him to say, "Hey, you're the guy from Delaware!" Always makes him laugh.

| | That is so cool. But, look at those eyes, and tell me you wouldn't notice *that* standing in the train station playing a violin... | | |
