Ok- he has got to be one of the greatest tenors I've ever heard- just bang on the pitch on the low notes as well as the high. Perfect pitch, perfect control and phraising- so, who is his voice teacher? He sounds like he's already sung on the big stages elsewhere. I get how someone like Carrie Underwood shows up, sings pretty good and wins AI. I don't get how someone just happens to be a world class opera singer without anyone noticing. |

After this season's AI and the marketing of "newbie" Jordin Sparks, you'll forgive me for being skeptical. Digging around turns up all sorts of interesting stuff. The 'aw shucks, I'm just a mobile phone salesman" isn't really, he's just working a day job while touring Italy, taking classes from Pavarotti, etc. He's good, but then, he should be good. He sings with the Bath Opera, and he's done some pretty great roles.
Yes, he's good, yes, he's brilliant, but yep, this is 'reality' TV. |

If you read the comments on Youtube, even people who hate opera or have never listened to one want to buy his album, and that just makes me so happy! He really is good, and if he gets even one person interested in opera he's got me for a fan. |

I keep clicking on this thinking it will be some really interesting story about a fabulous new must see TV show that transcends the pop pablum of reality television.... but no, every time? It is still just bloomin' OPERA.

Elliot Yamin looked like a goober too - but he's cleaned up pretty well. He's no looker now, but he's a lot better now that he's gone through the pretty machine.
