| | I'm kind of liking this Dish thing | | Despite my protestations, I do like the fact that we can now get the local channels in the living static free.
AND, today I discovered the BEST thing.
Dish CD channels. OMG, it's like the best radio station with no annoying radio personalities or commercials. I've had the rock station going while I've been making lefse this afternoon and have been dancing around the kitchen.
So I think we'll keep it.

| | Re I'm kind of liking this Dish thing | | We enjoy our Dish, but my problem with them is when you upgrade to HD. The one HD receiver will power two sets, but only one in HD. When we bought our second HD set they wanted another $500.00 to get a HD signal to that one. Direct TV is no better. |

| | Re I'm kind of liking this Dish thing | | I've never been interested, mainly because the inlaws lose it all the time (still) in bad weather, but also because now my phone, tv, and internet are on one bill. Oh, and the contract. I hate contracts. They give me hives.
We do have digital music channels, which, on the VERY rare occasions I have the house to myself, are always on. There's an "alt oldies" station that plays all sorts of things I went clubbing to with a shaved head back in the day and I also love the Broadway station. WHEE!
And the holiday one is fun, too. It changes seasonally, so the year we were homeschooling Beanie and we did a whole thing for Mardi Gras, we had the zydeco cranked. |

| | Re I'm kind of liking this Dish thing | | We have DishNet. We love it. We have coupons for four rooms and installation free, too, if people want them. |

| | Re I'm kind of liking this Dish thing | | I never had a contract with Directv because a long time ago, some people here gave me a Best Buy gift certificate for my birthday, and I used that to buy the satellite.

| | Re I'm kind of liking this Dish thing | | I turned on Iron Chef this evening when Dan came home. He asked if I was taking notes.
We got the installation free because I talked to the guy (he's an ODD fellow, I can't even tell you why, but he's just ODD) at the State Fair in August, and then I sort of strung him along for a while. And Showtime, Cinemax and HBO free for three months.
There's an 18 month contract, but I really don't care. You have no idea how awful our reception was down in this valley, and there's no other options yet.
