| | Laugh till you drop, pt. II - the movies | | Ok, stop staring, guys. I know I don't stop by here very often, but I want your expert advice.
I want a list of funny movies. I don't want mildy amusing, or ones which might occasionally bring forth a giggle or two. I want the kind of movie which makes you try to remember if you went to the bathroom before it started, the movie that you can't watch if there are sleeping children in the house because your yowls of laughter would cause them to have nightmares.
Ok, movie geeks- start making my list. Please?

| | Comedy is a tricky thing. One person's yowls of laughter is another person's blank stare.
That being said, and taking into account I have a very dry sense of humor, here are some of my favorite pee-in-the-pants flicks: Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Some Like It Hot
To Be or Not to Be (the Jack Benny/Carole Lombard version) Chicken Run
Tootsie
Hail, the Conquering Hero
His Girl Friday
Duck Soup
This is Spinal Tap
The Princess Bride
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Young Frankenstein |

| | Here's my list (a few of these choices will likely coincide with Grouch's list): Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Spaceballs
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Toxic Avenger
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Monty Python and the Meaning of Life
Blazing Saddles
Duck Soup
Meet the Feebles
Airplane
Dead Alive
The Naked Gun
And that's all I can think of...

| | | Hmmm... Well a lot of the films I would name fall into the have-to-be-in-the-mood sorta thing... but... The Princess Bride is one that makes me laugh every time I watch it. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is another... I really like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures Also The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad...
Hmmm... In the mood sorts of things: Top Secret, Airplane... Hmmmmmmmmm... Shrug.

Of course the closing credits in both are brilliant too.

Oh! Oh! Of course! Anything with Kevin Kline including Pirates of Penzance. Doesn't hurt that he's a hunk.
And The Gods Must Be Crazy. The association here is the Keystone Kop effect.

Another oldie - His Girl Friday
I personally laughed all the way through Robert Altman's A Wedding but it's probably an individual thing Duck Soup and A Night At The Opera The Naked Gun There's Something About Mary (Stay away from the light!)
