| | OK, it's a reality show, but this one has me intrigued. It's short-term, it may likely be a style of singing I enjoy (depending on how they play it out - crazy free-style Mariah-Carey-ish melisma unlikely in choir singing), it's not focused on individuals but on groups, and there's a community prize offered. Anyone else thinking of watching it?

| | I wouldn't watch it, but I like the idea of a choir better than individuals. |

| | It only got a slot on the DVR roster because it is only five days long. I don't think I could stand it for longer than that. |

| | Is it opposite MNF? G is already making noises. I want to watch it, mainly because I've put time into so many choirs. |

| | I'll probably have it on. At least for tonite...it's four nights, but a couple of them are two hour time slots. Don't know if I can take that much.
I read over the weekend that Michael Bolton (I think it was him...one of the men anyway) is trying to get the producers to give $$ to ALL the cities involved, not just the "winner"...wouldn't that be nice.
And as a side note, Pippa's prediction of more reality shows due to the writer's strike is sadly coming true way too fast. Anyone seen the previews for American Gladiator?

| | Patti LaBelle - ROCKS. Who wouldn't want to study under her, if even for three weeks????
Michael Bolton - SUCKS. The man has the emotion of one of those Easter Island guys.
The country guy (Blake Shelton) who has never sung in a choir did really well.
Nick Lachey, not bad. Since he went first, I think he was at a disadvantage, but I did like his rendition.
Kelly whats-her-name, not as bad as Michael "Milk Toast" Bolton, but I think she's in the bottom two.
LaBelle's going to win. Hands down.

| | I saw the first two segments--Nick Lachey and Kelly Rowland.
Suffice it to say that I wouldn't have picked some of the singers they did...although the Asian guy in Rowland's choir rocked!
One of them, I forget which one, had a lead alto soloist who was completely off key....
Yes, I realize it's supposed to be gospel, but I like "on-pitch" Gospel. You can put some style in your voice without sacrificing the melody, and that's what good singers do. |

| | Patti LaBelle is great. Her choir left me cold though. I don't get why Bolton and Shelton picked rock songs for their choirs to sing - they sounded OK, but not as good as a rip-roaring song meant for a choir would have sounded. And so far everything seems "maximum forte," not much use of dynamics.

| | Watching DVR of last night and tonight now. My Monday favorites were Rowland, LaBelle and Lachey. Did not like Bolton, and thought Shelton's sucked. |

| | Kelly went.
My hubby has been intrigued, I only have seen bits.
I love Patti LaBelle. My husband hit it on the nose--in her choir, you can hear voices, not just one sound in unison.

| | Just watched last nights. Yay! Bolton is Ouuuuuuuuut!
And Lachey's choir's song was neat, Shelton's choir butchered one of my favorite songs, and LaBelle's was on the mark with a nice solo. The opening by Rowland's choir was pretty awesome too. |

| | I couldn't get into the show, even though I tivo'd it all. I think because they didn't sing real choir music, it just didn't touch me. I ended up deleting the last episode without even watching long enough to see who won.

| | I liked the show because it didn't focus on one person trying to make fame for his/herself... rather it focused on a group of people working to help a charity and bring awareness to an issue. It was definitely an interesting idea... and I think one week of it was just enough. Patti LaBelle was my favorite hands down and I really can't believe she lost... but Nick Lachey put up a very good fight. He's so much better without Jessica around!

| | This sounds worthwhile. Sorry I missed it.
But that won't stop me from trying to cast the next season, assuming the ratings were good and the writers' strike lasts long enough. Any suggestions?
They should have Mavis Staples, Kirk Franklin, Annie Lennox, Feist, Al Green and Gladys Knight compete with choirs. |

And hey, nice to see you around
