Re Dave Letterman's Beard...

Only Craig, I missed him terribly. I do believe he's the love of my life!

and yep, that beard looks just dreadful. Is there a reason for it, or is this some sort of El Nino /La Nina thingy?

I didn't know David Letterman was gay.

Is there a reason for it,
He said he would shave when the writers' strike is over. His gesture is similar to that of a lot of sports fans (mostly men, presumably) who don't shave during the playoffs because they think it will help their teams win. A lot of guys do that in Buffalo, when they get the chance.

Re Dave Letterman's Beard...

I never thought of bringing good karma to the Bills by not shaving my legs when I lived in Buffalo. Opportunity lost.

Re Dave Letterman's Beard...

I'll watch Letterman, but not the rest. He signed an independent deal with his writers. The rest did not.

Re Dave Letterman's Beard...

Why not Letterman? He basically gave the finger to everyone else, and gave his writers exactly what the WGA is asking for, including residuals for web content. I'm all about supporting that sort of action instead of cranking out more reality crap.

Re Dave Letterman's Beard...

I watched Leno's first show. He said he'd been on the line with the writers and would be back on the line with them. He has to depend on NBC to do his negotiating where Letterman can negotiate directly. If it was up to Leno, he'd do the same thing Letterman has done.

He's back at work because there are, according to him, 160 people who won't work if he doesn't. He is in sympathy with the writers, but he feels a responsibility to the rest of his crew. He also has the capability to write more than a few funny jokes and to ad-lib quite well.

Re Dave Letterman's Beard...

The problem with Leno is that if he's writing his own bits, he's a scab. Plain and simple. You can't be on the line and then doing your writers' jobs once you cross it. I'm supposed to believe that Leno doesn't have enough clout to tell NBC to screw themselves and sign a contract?
