The Kite Runner

I read The Kite Runner with my book club a year or two ago. I loved the book and have been raving about it ever since.

Tonight I saw the movie. Finding some place that was playing it wasn't easy. The movie has very little English spoken it it, so perhaps that is why.

Wow. The movie was out of this world. The "difficult" scene from the book was well done in the movie. The acting was supurb, even the children, who were not actors.

This was the best movie of 2007 that I have seen. If you enjoyed the book I think you will enjoy the movie. If you haven't read the book, what are you waiting for?

Re The Kite Runner

I should get off my butt and see if I can swap on Book Crossing. I did buy my dad the latest from that author for something or other. He's reading it now.

Re The Kite Runner

I don't recomend A Thousand Splendid Suns. It's not that the writing was bad, or that the story was not a good one. It just took me a month or more to read the book because I couldn't force myself to read it, knowing how depressed it was making me. I know lots of people who loved the book. I'm not one of them. It was too painful.

How does a child pee on a book?

Re The Kite Runner

Maybe the child read the book and was expressing an opinion, in which case the directness is admirable. The kid did literally what the rest of us have to write reviews to do figuratively.

Re The Kite Runner

I enjoyed the Kite Runner. I listened to the audiobook read by the author. It took me a while to figure out that "aw fwan" was Afghan.

I think I'd like to see the movie if Margaret recommends it.

Re The Kite Runner

Bug is a... special child. We aren't quite sure what his purpose is for peeing on things, but he seems very adamant about it.
