Anyone watch tonite? Pippa, your girl won big...I have to say I've never heard her before her performance tonite, but I wasn't horribly impressed. Tell me that was not one of her best?
Missed a lot of the early stuff...bummer, I would have liked to have seen what I'm reading about.
Enjoyed the Tina Turner/Beyonce piece.
Cracked up at Vince Gill taunting Kanye West.

It's extraordinary to me that the United States can find $700 billion to save Wall Street and the entire G8 can't find $25 billion dollars to save 25,000 children who die every day from preventable diseases.~ Bono
Record is a single. Album is the whole thing. They really need to change the terminology... it's still the same as it was 50 years ago, but the media types have changed so much it doesn't make sense.
Proof, however, that the Grammys are so out of touch it isn't even funny.. album of the year was a Herbie Hancock/Joni Mitchell album??? As another voracious music connoisseur I was talking to last night said... did we even know this album EXISTED?

There's her grammy performance for anyone who (like me) missed it. The girls I work with HATED it. I just watched it. I don't think it was her best performance, but it wasn't bad at all (and yes, she's had some bad ones). You can tell how obsessed she is with her (incarcerated) husband.
Her teeth look really good
So much for "six grammies, I'd rather have six grams..." she looks pretty happy in the other video when she gets awarded I hope she's getting whatever help she needs because I'd like to have more albums of hers in the future.
Did that toes... krinkle my nose... however it goes... woman get any awards last night? Cause I'm praying I won't be hearing that song at 2009 Grammys. If I hear it seven times a day for the next year, I might begin to hate her as much as Sara Mclaughlin.
Uhm...I don't know that she did. But did she play? That song that's on the (Target, Old Navy, something) ad ("1, 2, 3, 4 tell me that you love me more")? Was that her?
I like that "starts in my toes, then it krinkles my nose" song though...it's just sort of a happy song and makes me smile.

Her name is Colby Caillat I think. Is that who does that song in the ad too? That song has been played probably an equal number of times as No One by Alicia Keys, and if I never heard either of them again, it would be too soon.
I wish I could take control of the radio at work. We listen to pop every day. I would put classic rock on in an office, since the oldest person up there is 60 and the youngest is me we all grew up listening to classic rock. Instead we listen to Celine Dion and Kelly Clarkson, and stuff that I'm sure none of us like, but it's "non-offensive." And when they play something classic, it's something lame like "Shadow Dancing." Sigh.
1,2,3,4 is on the ipod commercial I believe... and it is sung by Feist. Sounds like Colby Caillat, but not the same person.
I liked Colby's Bubbly and also Alicia Keys' No One the first hundred times I heard them on the radio. I could go without them for a little... so in a few months I'll be able to hear those songs and like them again. I still thoroughly enjoyed Alicia Keys last night... she's one of my favs, I could listen to her for hours... and watching her live is awesome. John Mayer was a random but good addition! I love instrumental stuff like that.
Margaret, can you stream music through your computer? I go onto yahoo music and plug my headphones in.

Thanks Missy, and yes, it's the iPod commercial...
I listen to my iPod and headphones at work. Then I can go from Linkin Park to Rage Against the Machine to Springsteen to Loreena Mc-whats-her name and no one has to know. Or be offended.

So if you are listening to good music, how do you keep yourself from singing along?
I was humming "Hey Little Rich Girl" subconciously today at work, and I wasn't even listening to it. It's been my ear worm for a few days.
I like the idea of listening to headphones at work, I'm just afraid that the president of the company is going to think I'm slacking off. They need to make wireless earbuds.
It's really tough to not sing along sometimes... but I do a reality check that I am neither a) in the shower nor b) alone in my car... so it wouldn't be too wise for me to start rockin out.
That song's got a pretty catchy beat! I like it. Now I'll probably be humming it tomorrow.
I find it a lot easier to concentrate when I am listening to music I like. If it helps productivity, the prez shouldn't say anything!

I used to share an office and since we both had eclectic tastes that worked out really well. A little singing once in a while was not a problem.
Now we've got high-walled cubes that are not soundproof. So everyone can hear you. We've moved to listening with headphones and it's a disaster for musical enjoyment. It's the first time in a long time that I haven't been able to listen to music out loud and I have noticed it affecting my work. It takes me longer to get into a coding task deeply. I have to keep remembering not to hum. That's distracting.
Girl in the cube next to mind often slips up and sings a little. I don't mind it (I can always put on the headphones and block her out) but it makes me sad that we're all locked in these separate little music worlds. It's unnatural.
