Best Songs Evar! 70's version

In the Worst Song Evar thread, I bashed a few 70s songs that I think are terrible. I thought I'd share a song I love from the 70s and have a place for you to share your favorites too.

I just heard War Pigs from Black Sabbath on the radio and remembered why I love that song so much. I love the way the song is constructed. The dissonance and the harmony converging and diverging, the war-like sounds the instruments make, and the lyrics, oh god the lyrics! In my mind they could be talking about any war in modern history. I feel they are as true of the Vietnam war as they are of Dubya's war.

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of deaths construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!

I think this is one of the best songs of the 1970s, and even of all time.

Heh Honestly the 70s aren't my favorite decade for music but I rather like the song "Iron Man". Pretty dang cool song in my opinion. I even liked the really odd remake of it done by The Cardigans. The movie was cool too.

I've been digging a good bit of the songs from Guitar Hero lately and a fair few of those were from the seventies. It isn't like I dislike the songs from the period but the style doesn't exactly appeal to me so a lot of them are more like 'oh yeah, I like that too' sorts of things or songs that I won't change the channel after they come on.

Ummmm... Piano Man by Billy Joel? I think that was seventies.

Some of Heart's songs from the seventies were good (Crazy on You, Barracuda, a few others).

Some of the seventies punk stuff was neat.

I liked a lot of the songs on the soundtrack to Almost Famous.
