Well? Did you see Harry Potter?

Saw it. Loved it.

Was it the greatest movie I ever saw? Nah. Was it a treat, a delight and a wonder for an HP Fan Family?

Utterly amazing special effects...but not overdone. The effects weren't designed to make you go "Wow! Look at that special effect!", more like "Wow! Look at that come to life!"

I've no complaints. They did a great job. One very happy HP mom.

Andrea

Yup, I agree with everything you say. I snuck out of work early and joined Kalynda and the kids at a 3:45 show. The place was full - but absolutely mobbed when we left at 6:30. Seems the 7:00 ticket holder line was already there in full force.

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

Saw it (with TheEye, but not with ThePoopster, who instead vomited all over the sitter). Unfortunately, I agree with the professional reviewers. It's plodding - a string of set pieces instead of a smoothly flowing story. There's so much stuff going on that we don't really get to meet any of the characters as people. And Harry shows no particular signs of wonder at all of these magical goings-on given that he's known nothing of this for eleven years. The Dumbledore-ex-machina granting of the house cup to Gryffindor falls particularly flat. It's about as satisfying as most of those game shows in which the final 30-second round makes the entire previous half-hour irrelevant. Maybe an eleven-year-old would like it. Oh well. I'm hoping that the Lord of the Rings trilogy isn't going to be as bad.

Saw it. Twice. But that's enough--at least until the special edition DVD comes out!

My formal review is up at the mutha site for those who are interested.

I wanted to love it, but couldn't. I liked it a lot - there's much to like and I won't mind seeing it again sometime but for a film about magic, there wasn't enough magical movie moments to satisfy me. I'm hoping that, as the novels grow more complex, they'll not spend quite so much time on unnecessary exposition.
