Historical book? YES, as long as that's understood as being primarily personal history. |

| | Well, it's a solid limb because that is indeed the book I had in mind. Congratulations, MrsNormanMaine.
I trust all of us are relieved the game is now in the exceptionally capable hands of the site's most glamorous movie star. Good luck with your challenge for the rest of us. 84 Charing Cross Road is a collection of delightful letters exchanged between Helene Hanff, a book lover who lives in Manhattan, and the staff at Marks & Co., an antique book store in England. The person who answers most of her letters is Frank Doel.
I'm very grateful to tlimjoco, whose especially nice review of the book led me to read it. Reading both the book and Teresa's review are short but rewarding experiences that I recommend enthusiastically. |

| | Oh dear, oh dear.
Not being the literary maven so many of the rest of you are, I never expected to win...
I have no speech prepared....
Now I have to come up with something new and worthy of all the fine minds out there.
