What's the most you ever paid for a concert ticket?

Kalynda and I just bought tickets to Billy Joel and Elton John at MCI Center (Washington) January 13. Billy's 52 and Elton is 54. Both voices have lost a ton of range, and at some point, someone is finally going to say, [i]I ain't doing this no more.

I've never seen Elton (that's my bad), but I've seen Joel at least seven times, starting in 1978. We pushed and nudged each other into the purchase, neither wanting to make the commitment.

BTW, we got exceptional seats - section 101 (either on the floor or two rows up from the floor) - three quarters of the way down the court. Remember that it's a basketball/hockey arena.

I never spent this much money on a concert before. And someone ought to shoot Ticketmaster, but that's another Epinion.

So, chime in and hide your results so folks can add their numbers and shows without being swayed by yours.

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

$175 per seat plus a $6 facility charge and a $31 Ticketmaster charge. Yes. $400.

My most expensive concert ticket was actually my first one, which, coincidentally, was to a Billy Joel and Elton John concert. We had absolute nosebleed seats but they were $65.00. The concert was worth every penny, though. I haven't been to such a good concert since.

Two tickets to see Garth Brooks in Toronto - 150$ each - Canadian.

Best concert I've ever seen!

The fact that a friend of ours worked for a local C&W radio station and had free tickets to share - he gave them to some friends that pretty much thought "Garth who?" was mildly annoying - to say the least.

However, regardless of price it was still the concert I enjoyed the most.

When I was in St. Louis hubby and I had almost had a chance to see him perform again, but things didn't work out as planned - unfortunately.

Saw Bon Jovi in Taipei -- tickets were 1000NT (required you to sit the entire concert), 1500 NT (second tier of standing), and 2000 NT (front row of standing). Outdoors in the The city baseball stadium

At the time 500 NT was close to 20$

I had a contest in one of my advanced class for a student to go with me so I bought two tickets -- 3000 NT.

cost me about 500 NT to make a special trip to Taipei to buy the tickets

Concert wasn't over until the last train had left for the day (I lived in Chungli an hour away) -- had to take a taxi home (1500 NT) cost 450 NT to get to the concert........

Total for concert including trasport was 5450NT or about US$218

Was a good show though....

Way I justified it was when I was earning $5 an hour I was buying tickets for $20 each. That was four hours of work

At the time I was earning 500 NT an hour -- so that was only 11 hours of work.......

didn't seem as bad

Bridgette

I've had cheap-o tickets apparently; either that, or I go where no one else wants to go.

This strand looks weird on my screen, however. I thought I would just let you know that. All the boxes are messed up.

Just thought I throw in the fact that I saw Van Halen open for Black Sabbath for $7.50....

Oh My! Joubert, did you write this so that you could find out how much I've spent on my boys?

Gulp

Well, um....
Um.....

Alright....the most I have ever spent was for a first row ticket (center where I could touch the boys, and I did MULTIPLE times) for $400.

It was worth every penny. The pictures of them (crotch shots, sweaty bodies, etc....) alone could have allowed me to recoup the cash. If only I would share them with the world....NOT!!!

Kristina, who must how hang her head in shame and hide from all of the grown ups in this forum.

I've never spent really big bucks on a ticket.

But, I did happen to see Billy Joel back in '78. Hey Joubert, we might have been sitting next to each other!

Most was $60-something apiece for CSNY last year at the Summit/Compaq Center. Neil Young was in top form.

Does Blue Man Group count? Somewhere around sixty each for that last year when we all were in Vegas for the wedding.

I managed to see the Ol'Blue Eyes on limited engagement in Boston. A friend couldn't go and sold me the ticket: $500 (half price...) I was on hot-dogs/ macaroni and cheese for two months but I never regretted.
