Our new forum!

At joubert's request (ok, he's been on her about this for months ) Amy has opened up a music forum for all of us who simply can't live without our tunes.

So post!

Lynne

Sounds great!

Only - be forewarned. I'm warped.

I was wondering why we had a movie/tv one and not a music one. Music is so much more important

Okay, the first bad music joke...

Actually, the first bad music joke was about Beethoven (or Bach, or Mozart or whomever) now decomposing, but this is still a moldy oldie.

Q: What do you call someone who hangs out with musicians?

A: The drummer

(ouch - don't throw cymbals. They hurt!)

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

Worst Music Shaggy Dog Joke in History?

Jazz joke....Told at length by Peter Schickele....my greatly condensed paraphrase....

A young anthropologist goes into the jungle to study a remote tribe, and finds a trustworthy guide. After several days of travel, she is alarmed to hear distant drums which never seem to cease. Her guide reassures her -- "All OK as long as drums play."

The drumming goes on day and night, getting louder as they draw closer to their destination. They arrive, and she makes friends with the chief and begins her research, but is disturbed by the incessant drumming. "No danger while drums play," says her guide.

Days and nights pass, and suddenly there is silence. "Ohhhh noooooooo!..." cries the guide in anguish and terror.

"....Bass solo!"

[I must have a totally warped sense of humor, because was ROFL when I heard this, and everyone else I know thinks it is totally stupid and not funny at all]
