Vanilla Sky (spoilers!)

Here is my review of Cameron Crowe's Vanilla Sky (which is NOT posted on Epinions, obviously).

The review doesn't have any spoilers, neither does this message, but any subsequent conversations about the movie will necessarily have some spoilers. See it and get back to me.

Guess I'll have to use this board as the comments section.

I don't see every movie out there, and in fact am rarely interested enough to venture out, especially in December. However, I think I'll have to see this one, based on that review. Having already read one positively appalling review on EPs of this film, I can hardly believe that you both saw the same film. (And yes, that was a thinly-veiled hint . I wish you were still writing there, and understand why you aren't).

I imagine that after I actually see this, I might have something intelligent to say, and while that lack hasn't slowed me down much, I'll get back to this later. Nice job.

Saw this tonight.

Still digesting. I don't think it's as bad as many would have us believe.

But Penelope Cruz remains a dead ringer for Daffy Duck.

Comments section: I am still working hard to get my movie review site redesigned so it looks all cool and everything. I've contracted it out, though, and the web grrrl who's designing it is busy on other projects, so it will likely be early next year before we roll it out. Having said that, though, one thing that will very likely be added is a comments section on each review (unless it is, like, really hard or expensive or something). Any advice on how to do that is, of course, appreciated.

Eps: Never never never never never never never going to write another movie review for them. Period. Even if Nirav Tolia his own bad self were to kiss my a** in front of Joan Rivers, God and everyone at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion on Oscar night.

Mixed reviews: I can't understand the bad reviews -- and I can't understand the spoilers in those bad reviews. I can only explain it by saying that the other reviewers obviously had different expectations for the movie than I did, that, and they were either genuinely puzzled by the ending or felt betrayed by the major plot twist. Or they liked the Spanish version better (as the NPR guy did; dunno, haven't seen it).

My main man Walter hated it:

Film Freak Central

A good review this (in not giving too much away) but I don't share his judgment on the soundtrack, or the quality of the acting, or whether the movie engages in handholding.

Cruz: Like the Daffy Duck reference; the scene or two when she blurts out a line of angry rapid-fire Spanish certainly sounded like duckspeak to me.
