| | Any other Christine Lavin fans? | | Sara posted a link to a terrific program from WFUV and it includes several Christine Lavin and Bitchin' Babe numbers.
I'm not much of a music person myself -- but I love Christine. Any other fans here? |

| | She's best described as an "urban folk singer". She's a singer/songwriter, writes a lot of clever, humorous songs as well as some rather poignant ballads and, to my very musically untrained and unsophisticated ear, she's got some very interesting musical motifs.
She's also well-known for being extraordinarly generous to unknown musicians and has "discovered" and mentored many of them.
Some of her better-known songs are: Sensitive New Age Guys The Pink Pussycat Boutique (an ode to sex aids ) Good Thing He Can't Read My Mind Shopping Cart of Love: The Play
She's got a cult following, particularly among single women in NYC.

| | Yup, Sara fits the mold.
Check out the link she posted under the "could you use a good laugh" thread. It's a great mix and there's some Christine Lavin in there. |

| | Her web site also has a lyric archive. It won't give you a feel for her musical style, but her sense of humor is evident. |

| | I'm not a big fan of Sensitive New Age Guy the only song of hers I know I've hear.d. However, I generally like artists like her so I may try to listen to more.

| | btw, Janice, she's also been writing a fair number of science-oriented songs in recent years. Yes, I know that sounds odd. She tends to take a snippet of news or an odd factoid and work a song around it and, for some reason, she seems to have taken to associating with scientists (especially astronomers and physicists) lately. |
