| | Shania Twain Cracks All Time Top 10 | | If there was ever an album created that was a testament to the producer, it would be Shania's Come On Over album. I have deliberately not reviewed the album back at the mother site because I would have gushed all over her husband, Mutt Lange, and his work.
And now they've cracked the top 10 selling albums of all time. Here they are for your end of the year reviewing and nostalgia pleasure. Discuss your faves at will:

Eagles, Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 - 27 million US copies sold
Michael Jackson, Thriller - 26 million
Pink Floyd, The Wall - 23 million
Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin IV - 22 million
Billy Joel - Greatest Hits Volume I and II - 21 million
AC/DC, Back In Black - 19 million
The Beatles, The Beatles - 19 million
Shania Twain, Come On Over - 18 million
Fleetwood Mac, Rumors - 18 million
The Bodyguard (official soundtrack) - Whitney Houston - 17 million
Where are some former "best selling albums" of all time?
The Beatles 1967-1970 (can't remember if that was red or blue) have 16 million sales, Bruce's Born In The USA has 15 million units as does the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.
You won't find Frampton Comes Alive anywhere among the top spots. Instead, the best selling live album is now Garth Brooks' Double Live with 14 million units sold. |

| | I have two of the top ten. I guess I'm not with the flow very often.
I don't know that I could name a Shania Twain song if my life depended upon it. |

| | What ever happened to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon?
Didn't that used to be one of the longest "top" selling albums of all time?
It amazes what makes records sell now a days! Guess I'm getting old!

| | Wow, some surprises there.
The only two I'd care to own are Billy Joel and the Beatles (and, although I do own CD's of both, I don't own those particular CD's.)
I'm not impressed by Shania Twain's voice, although I think her music is produced and arranged well, and she obviously has the looks and charisma to pack concert halls. When I saw her concert on TV, I remember being shocked, and saying to my husband, "She really can't sing, can she?" (To which, being a man, he said, "Who cares?")
Her songs are written for her range, and the arrangements are designed to compensate for her lack of vocal chops. |
