| | E!online reporting that the fourth installment of Indiana Jones is a done deal. http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,9412,00.html
Hmmmm. Not quite sure what to think of this. Harrison Ford is aging gracefully, to be sure, but does anyone want to see an older, wiser, Indiana Jones?? |

| | | I'm not sure that older/wiser applies to the Indiana Jones character or any movie that depends on his other characteristics. Sure, he's got his clever moments, but he's more of an acrobat and tomb raider than archaeologist.
I think Clint Eastwood a spectacular job on "Unforgiven" showing the frailties of the anti-hero getting up there in years... not sure if there's many more examples of older (serious) action heroes. Leslie Nielsen doesn't count... he's parody and slapstick. |

| | Harrison has put on a lot of miles and a couple of decades since 'Raiders'. The milieu will probably have to change to post-WW II to deal with that but I don't see the late 40s or 50s visual styles really complimenting the Saturday afternoon matinee panache of the series.
Indiana Jones just doesn't fit the world of 'I Love Lucy'...

| | But Indiana Jones in the early '60s (the time of 'Camelot') might be do-able. I'd be interested enough to see it. |

| | M. Night? You gotta be joking me... | | I am a big fan of theforce.net, where on occasion they stray from the silo world of Starwars and discuss all things Lucas... and at one point they discussed this fourth foray into the Indie world. They had always stated that Lucas was looking forward to the movie but couldn't go near it because he's still tied up for another 4 years doing starwars. But I find a quote in the E! Online article Vania referenced pretty interesting... "The big question mark is how much input Lucas will have. Beyond helping out on the story, reps for Lucasfilm could not confirm Lucas' participation. The filmmaker has been busy writing and helming the Star Wars prequels, the last of which won't hit screens until 2005."
But the thing is... if they wait until Lucas is free and we get the movie title 'Indiana Jones and the Geriatric Ward'. Not a good thing. You throw M. Night into the mix and you have Dead Geriatric People. Even worse. Where did HE come from? Actually he is an accomplished scriptwriter of course, but for Indiana Jones? Wild.
For the record (and to at least somewhat stick to the thread of the discussion) I really would be excited about that Geriatric Jones storyline… I will be an Indie fan regardless of what tripe they put out, or how old Harrison gets. |

| | Not that I'm lacking any confidence in Vania's sources -of course- but I just saw this in the Denver Post...
Steven Spielbert has given up the director's chair for one of his back-burner projects, "Memoirs of a Geisha." Instead, he'll produce "Geisha" and will move on to the fourth Indiana Jones movie after his next job, "Catch Me If You Can," starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a globetrotting con artist.
Pretty cool stuff. I still am wondering about the whole Lucas Star Wars bit. Wonder if he isn't going to be involved or if he'll "Produce" Indy (and the geriatric Jones) 4... hehe! Hollywood crax me up. Dij |

Yeah but what has Steven Spielbert done that's famous? Nothing. He's a two-bit director. Now, if it was Steven Spielberg, that would be impressive! |

| | I could imagine Indiana Jones 4 with Harrison Ford:
Girl: Indiana! Jump over the snake pit, watch out for those booby traps!
Indiana: OKAY!!!
::Indiana jumps around the landscape dodging arrows and rocks stumbling around with his walking cane:: |

YEah this movie is going to ROCK. Steven Spiel-BERT is HUGE. BIG-big. Like think Martin Score's-easy in the Heart of Darkness big... oh yeah that's been done. -cough- apocalypse now -cough- SEE it IS big.
If only Spiel-BERT had been on the first three then we REALLY woulda hit the big time.
(Dangit. I never said I could type. That's what I get for posting as I am running out to go skiing. (note to self... don't DOOoo that.))
Right. Thanks Poseidon for pointing out to me once again the inherent flaws within. Dij, bows and trips. Dij | | |
