| | For my birthday this Friday, I plan to see either The Mothman Profecies, Dragonfly, or Queen of the Damned. I'm having trouble deciding which. Could some of you help me decide? Fear factor and overall quality are most important.

| | Boy, them are some slim pickings. Mothman Prophecies wasn't too bad (most of the scare was already shown in the previews) but then again I am going to shy away from Dragonfly (I know, I know, even though I don't have to pay to go and see it) simply because Kevin Costner himself is a scary thing.
And Queen of the Damned? Well, if they mess it up as badly as they did Interview With the Vampire then that is going to be a major disappointment as well. I am on the fence about it but looking to fall off the "run away, run away" side personally.
In all this mess I am holding out for Jodie Foster in Panic Room myself. Guess that wasn't too much help, huh? Whatever you decide, make sure and have a good birthday!

| | Erg, I'm of little help here, I'm afraid. Richard Gere sets off my gag reflex as no other actor does, and Queen of the Damned looks like it'll be way over the top (in a bad way). Dragonfly might be interesting, just be careful of the Costner Curse.

| | Dragonfly would be my pick, but maybe I should also add that I haven't seen any of them yet I didn't even know Dragonfly was out yet, looks like I gotta pay more attention!
I too am looking forward to Panic Room...

| | Ick. What choices! Dragonfly looks like it was made just to jump in on the current trend of supernatural thrillers (see The 6th Sense, What Lies Beneath, Stir of Echoes, blah blah). Mothman Prophecies, well, see above, only this one is slightly more appealing without Kevin Costner. Queen of the Damned was my favorite of the Vampire Chronicles series. I didn't mind SO much what was done to Interview With the Vampire movie-wise, but this one lacks the star power the first had. Without big names (and Aaliyah doesn't count), this looks more along the lines of that.... whatever that Mummy spin-off was with The Rock (Scorpion King?) *shudder* |

| | I agree... bad selections to choose from | | Quote: Originally posted by vania Queen of the Damned was my favorite of the Vampire Chronicles series. - snip - ... this looks more along the lines of that.... whatever that Mummy spin-off was with The Rock (Scorpion King?) *shudder* | I agree 100% with Valerie - yes Queen of the Damned was an awesome novel. Very well done... interesting back story to the whole Vampire Chronicles. But Aaliyah? Cough... and the fact that it is lacking a single star means it HAS to be a dog of a script. I see serious potential for eyecandy here - but I won't see it til it hits the bargain basement dvd rental. That bad.
My guess would be Mothman Prophecies... but only because the others are sooo bad and I don't really know too much about MP. Nasty choices. Stay at home and rent an old favorite instead. Dij

| | I saw Dragonfly last night. It was alright, but nothing great.
Thanks for your help and birthday wishes. |

| | Haven't seen any of the three and since you've already selected one this is probably pointless, but I'm kinda intrigued by The Mothman Prophecies.
I like this line from the film in regards to why the thing doesn't just reveal itself in an up-front, honest, Klaatu, from The Day the Earth Stood Still-sort of way:
"You're more advanced than a cockroach. Have you ever tried explaining yourself to one of them?"
That's a line from the film as quoted in a review I recently read. It's enough to pique my interest.

| | Because at least one of these movies was mentioned in this thread: Hart's War Dragonfly Count of Monte Cristo
