| | Find a word of ten letters that can be typed by using only the top row of letters on a computer keyboard.
About 30 years ago this puzzle was easier. Why?
I'll post the answer this weekend.

| | Because 30 years ago, the answer would have come readily to mind as one pondered the question.
Although I remember, even 15 years ago, people stumbling over the question while the answer was staring them in the face... |

| | Quo, ye twerp.
Does it have to be one word? Can I repeat letters?
I didn't have a computer thirty years ago. |

| | I know the word you're thinking of (didn't I say I was Auntie the Know It All?), but just to be a smart ass, I'll say instead:
Roto-Rooter
and the reason this would have been easier to guess thirty years ago is because people had longer hair so their drains got clogged more often. |

It's as much fun to come up with alternate answers as it is to come up with the one locked in the fevered brain of the moderator.

| | Wow! I never win games, but I got this one, and your clue gave it away!!! I don't want to spell it out and ruin the game for others, so I'll sit here and try to find a wrong answer that will challenge roto-rooter........ how about
prototypes or quote-writer? No - I think roto-rooter wins. |

How about a nice clunky car, also known as a puttputter |

The 30 years ago was the tip-off.

It's the weekend.
Where's the answer?

| | 30 years ago, the question would have read:
Find a word of ten letters that can be typed by using only the top row of letters on a typewriter.
A typewriter.
The other guesses on this board are really good, too. The trick to the question 30 years ago was that most people would gloss over the word typewriter in trying to figure out the answer. |

| | Thanks, Fr. Kurt for doing the honors. Exactly right.
I was thinking of using the original question, then thought I would update it instead and throw in the hint about X number of years ago.
The word "typewriter" appearing in a question today is just too conspicuous.

I was trying to use ALL the letters without using one twice.
There are exactly ten letters across the top of a keyboard.
That was mean.

Ok.
But you won't catch me so easily next time.
