Oh, and someone better distract Count Redlord as well... | Without getting too involved in this discussion, may I just say, "why do you get to marry her?"
So-o, how about that baklava?

No.
No.
A unit may only provide support for another unit to hold or to move. It may not provide support for another unit to support a third unit's actions.
I think I have misunderstood Austria's question. I thought I was being asked if Holland's support could be added to Belgium's support for Paris to move to Picardy. Holland may not support Paris into Picardy, however I think Austria's question was (correct me if I'm wrong again please) asking if Holland could have supported Belgium in such a way that it ensured that Belgium's support was received by the French army as it moved from Paris to Picardy. My answer to the question is still "no", because Holland cannot prevent Belgium's support from being cut. If England had ordered one of her fleets to attack Belgium then Belgium's support would have been cut, regardless of Holland's orders. However, as KEVP has pointed out in a following post (thank you!), Holland's order to support Belgium to hold even though Belgium was not ordered to hold is still valid. Which leads me to the following correction: CORRECTION: This was the original question and my reply Quote: Originally posted by Redlass And if Belgium had been attacked, would the support have held in defense? | Even if Belgium had been attacked Holland's order to support Belgium to hold would not be valid because Belgium was not ordered to hold.
The order to support must match the orders for the unit to be supported. But I must correct the above statement to say Quote: Originally posted by Redlass And if Belgium had been attacked, would the support have held in defense? | If Belgium had been attacked Holland's order to support Belgium to hold would be valid.
The order to support must match the orders for the unit to be supported if that unit has been ordered to move. As long as a unit has not been ordered to move it can be supported to hold in the event of an attack. Quote: Originally posted by Redlass Or would it have been negated since the purpose was to support the Paris move? | Even if the purpose of Germany's order, In payment of its commander's gambling debt, the hip Holland army supports the French army in Belgium. , was to support the French army's move from Paris to Picardy it would have failed because a) Holland cannot provide support for an action in Picardy (Holland cannot reach Picardy), and b) Germany's order did not specify what it was supporting Belgium to do. By default an order to support that does not state its specific intentions is treated as a support to hold order.

| | I hate to be the one that brings this up, but I am afraid that in the edition of the rules that I am using, which seem to be called "4th edition 2000", it says on page 7 in the section about the support order that "Support can be offensive (supporting an attacking move order) or defensive (supporting a hold, support, or convoy order)"
It goes on further to say
"A unit not ordered to move can be supported by a support order that only mentions its province"
Under these rules, then, the order "Army Holland supports Belgium" is perfectly legitimate even if Belgium is given the order "Army Belgium supports the move of Paris to Picardy", the army Holland would support Belgium if any attempt to attack it were made. |

Friendlier countries will be treated to a limited addition ornamental plate of the two Divas, painted by Thomas Kinkade, showing them in full regalia in the famous 'Citrus Lime Mosque'. (It used to be known as the 'Blue Mosque' - but blue is so last year...)

| | I hope everyone is keeping up with this.
What it comes down to, now that we have re-read the rules, is that the orders given by France and Germany to their units this turn were absolutely okay, there were NO problems. |
