Talking Secret Santas - The Official Game Thread

T’was a day in December,
and all through the EA
all the elves were PMing
their gifts for the day.

Santa Worm was delivering
all the presents with ease,
in hopes that the gifts
would delight all and please.

So get into the spirit,
And go search the net.
The virtual gift game
won’t throw you in debt.

Some gifts are quite funny,
and others are sweet!
Some pretty to look at,
some yummy to eat!

The game was designed
to be lots of fun.
And to say happy holidays
to everyone!

OK I just checked my email and got a terrific poem from my Secret Santa:

Quote:
Here's a gift for the Buffalo girl
Who likes to write in rhyme
So I thought I'd give it a whirl
and show her a good time....

A gift of a poem for the kind one
who always lends an ear,
she's patient and caring,
and full of good cheer.

These are not words given lightly,
they are honest statements of fact,
But one cannot re-gift a poem so politely
as one can give a fruit cake back.

Isn't that sweet?! this is fun!

mj

Hello, Kids!
Santa Worm here. I'm starting to get lots of goodies for all the good girls and boys, and some of you should already have some packages in your mail box. This year Santa has modernized the workshop, and the elves are using the web to help deliver gifts. If any of you experience any technical difficulties with your presents (links that won't open, images that don't work, etc) just let Santa Worm know. I'll work with the elves to resolve the problem.

Santa Worm dropped a giftie in my inbox this morning

Quote:
Sara:
I'm sending you a holiday wish
Because I recall you'd like a knish

You don't have to go to the store
They'll deliver to your door

Bagels too

Love,
Your Secret EA Santa
Hint: I post more on EA than on Epinions.

Mmmmmmmm. Knishes and bagels. Life is indeed good.

Thanks Secret Santa!

Sara

Well, Eye got a gift this morning:

Dear Eye,

Can’t you tell who am I?
I guess it’s tough with just one eye.
So here’s your gift, the first of thems
A gilded monocle with gems
It is a precious old antique
Just like you it’s quite unique.
Now that your single eye can see
Can you tell me who is me?

Love,
Your secret EA Santa

Hint: I have two eyes. Neither of them work very well.
I'm guessing that this came from Taurusmoon.

Oh!! I got two gifts this morning!

First off I got some great shortbread cookies. You can see those HERE It had the attached message from my secret gift giver:

Since I know you like cookies...Here are some from me!

These are some of my favorites, and from the country from whence my ancestors came. Hope you enjoy them!

Yummy!

And then I got this game with my same name with a message included:

Here's a video game for you, obviously named after your screen name. I'm not sure if you like video or on-line games like I do, but I hope you like it.

Ok. This is exciting and my mind is racing with ideas of who this could be. Now I have to go shopping for a gift and give it to my secret gift recipient!

Dear sweet Margaret,

What joy it brings me to be selected to 'gift' you this week.

I only hope there are enough hours in the day for you to enjoy all the gifts that you might receive this week. I only hope that I have caught of sense of what makes Margaret our beloved magenta321.

Lets start with something simple. Perhaps to 'whet your appetite' for things to come. I offer you this humble as a harbinger of things to come. It can be redeemed here for a fine meal for you and a guest.

Enjoy from your secret santa...

--------------------------------------------------------

Wow. My secret Santy knows my favorite place to eat.

I don't think I've ever mentioned that before on EA. Was a regular hang out of mine in college. Scary!

Can't wait to use that gift certificate on $.10 wing night! I'll be fat, happy, and drunk!

I'll take the Charlie Wings, TYVM. They're the best wings I've ever had, and, despite the "law of deminishing returns", they just keep getting better.

Santa Worm interupts this game to bring you an important message. It has been suggested that Santa Worm start a new game thread each day to make it easier to scroll through what has and hasn't been read, and to keep the threads a normal length. Therefore - this thread should be concidered the "Official Secret Santa Game Thread for Monday". I'll start a new one tomorrow for tomorrows gifts.
We now return to our game - still in progress....

I forgot to guess who my Santa was...

Um... so far I'll guess MJ. Only because I might have talked to her about the wings or something.

Here's the thread! I lost this earlier today when I wanted to share the wonderful present I got:

Bridgette:

I know that you enjoy the theater and reading as well
I have known you for quite some time now
And I think you are just swell!

I am one who loves the wild
This is your hint
Its been this way since I was but a child

EXTINCTION
by Séamas Cain

wolves fashion me out of a wild thought
my wild thought & my fashioning, as a
redwing tips the plaid of the maples
there's no man may look at the wolves
& covet the ransom of crayfish or
the strings of a crayfish
the wolves revolt, as when
newly grown to unravel the
marble of ventilation

a she-wolf pulled down a pale deer
at the station of riddles of hooves
at the hour of a moth's
brilliant snarling
yes yes a snarling
this she-wolf is kinder yet for
swamp-rushes as a pestle for starshine
she could not weep that the old are
destroyed in the studs of downpour
the folly of being at the
weld of a roaring or mill-pond
predation that is ever kind
predation upon a throne of wolves

tomatoes form an outer mosaic
from which i am hanging paper flowers
in the wind the padlock of rheumatism
because i am alone, & wolfishly nimble
i hear a tainting of wind
i am wolfishly translucent
murmur of a dimple of the wind
warp of a ghostly boat & clouds
i am contented, for the
places of whispers & wolves
the travels of laughing
& eating with wolves
cracklings of the piracy
of a tin-whistle among
pigeons & bees, while the
she-wolf closes against a gray
witness the racket of a
cricket who but awaits the
hour the wolves will vanish
a quiver over the twisting of a wasp

i remember the beauty of wolves
wolves in an uprising

As for who it is, I'm not guessing yet! The person has an excellent taste in poetry and is good at making his/her own rhymes too!

Whoever it is--thank you! You gave me something to think about and enjoy today.

Wow! What a total surprise today.

The bigger question here - was this before OR after her "alleged" growth spurt? Inquiring minds want to know!

Secret Santa also hinted that he / she joined EA within the first 6 months. That rules out dragonfire88, sleeper54, mj, and phoenixx.

I am going to guess magenta321 is my Secret Santa. She remembers stuff like join dates.

Amy, I was just going to ask you to explain "Santa Cause" to me. But, apparently, I understood it since I sent it to you.

Or did I?

Or did I not?

I forget.

Well, really, I don't forget. I just don't want to tell you!

Hi, Susan.
I see by your reviews that you like musicals. So do I.

But I find I'm not very good at musical trivia. I scored a 4 out of 10. I'm sure you can top that.

Your Secret Santa

That's one hard quiz! I only got 3 out of 10. I just guessed at most of them.

Speaking of guessing... I was thinking Redlass, but I think she knows Broadway better than I do. Maybe...jsgoddess?

This is fun. Off to send tomorrow's gift.
