12/8 Day 1 - 2003 Virtual Gift Exchange

T’was a day in December,
and all through the EA
all the elves were PMing
their gifts for the day.

Santa Worm was delivering
all the presents with ease,
in hopes that the gifts
would delight all and please.

So get into the spirit,
And go search the net.
The virtual gift game
won’t throw you in debt.

Some gifts are quite funny,
and others are sweet!
Some pretty to look at,
some yummy to eat!

The game was designed
to be lots of fun.
And to say happy holidays
to everyone!

As you receive your gifts, post them here so everyone can ooh and ah!

Re: 12/8 Day 1 - 2003 Virtual Gift Exchange

Well, I got an apologetic letter with a link to an hysterical comic website!

Quote:
Dear MJ,

I was going to send this comic to you. But I have been assured by everyone I know that, although this comic is extremely funny and very well written, it's... well, it's offensive. Very offensive. So, I guess I can't give you anything today. Because the only thing I could think of to give you is just too horrible to share with anyone. Just make sure you don't click that link. And whatever you do, if you DO happen to click the link, don't click "next". That would be bad. Very bad. If you click "next," stop clicking. If you find yourself thinking, after clicking 5 or so times, "well, this isn't as bad as I thought it would be," you're just getting acclimated. This will probably cause you to become desensitized to violence and go shoot up a school, or worse, start telling people what you REALLY think of them.

So please, forgive me for not having an appropriate gift. Believe me, right now I am scouring the nets looking for a gift for tomorrow that I won't be able to give you, either.

Now the comic (http://www.somethingpositive.net/sp12192001.shtml) is definitely one that some people might object to. But I've got a weird sense of humor anyway. I especially liked this one: http://www.somethingpositive.net/sp12212001.shtml

Re: 12/8 Day 1 - 2003 Virtual Gift Exchange

I got a gift card to my favorite bookstore. I spend far too much time in there now . . . thanks a bunch.

And, here's the poem that accompanied the card. Anyone recognize a signature style of writing?

Quote:
Deb's Secret Santa said
It's quite absurd
But yet I heard
You lust after
The written word

I tried to look
And find a book
A task I rue
I undertook

Because it's hard
With butt of lard
To shop around
Here's a gift card

So go explore
Inside this store
And find some books
That you'll adore
I'm guessing that my Secret Santa might hang around the Health & Fitness forum?

Deb

Re: 12/8 Day 1 - 2003 Virtual Gift Exchange

Deb. I don't think I've heard the term "butt of lard" being thrown around H&F lately!

My SS sent me a cold glass of milk and a delicious chocolate souffle thingee in a mug. They look scrumptious (and the milk reminded me to go take my calcium pill ) and no calories. S/he said the milk was a "gift from her/his state"....I don't know what state is famed for it's milk, so I'll wait on a guess. (wait....Wisconsin is famous for cheese, so maybe by association......)

Anyway, THANKS Santa!

Lynn

Re: 12/8 Day 1 - 2003 Virtual Gift Exchange

My secret santa sent me this...

Quote:
Eris, knowing you have recently become the proud new owner of a kitty, I thought you might like to dress her up a little for Christmas.

I can't let you dress up your cat without dressing up YOU, so here's a cozy new sweater to keep you warm on those cold Michigan nights at the hotel.

Your clue to my identity today is:
I like cats too. And it's a good thing because I have more than one.
Now my cat is looking at me funny. I had to promise her that I wouldn't make her wear the santa hat. *crosses fingers behind back*

I got a nice little poem, too, accompanied by a nice, cozy pair of Merry Christmas socks.

Thanks for posting your poem, Deb, it helps me narrow down MY giver!

I am getting some fantastic treatment!

Quote:
Been busy running around getting all those gifts?
Now is the time to take a break and give yourself a lift!

You will be spending the day at the Gloss Day Spa. Don't worry, your husband has graciously volunteered to take care of all accomodations for your boys while you get the star treatment. This may be a great before Christmas treat to yourself, you if you prefer, an after Christmas relaxation trip.

The Star Treatment of Your Choice
A day at the spa and hubby taking care of the kids? This Santa certainly is magic!

That picture must have been doctored: it's got all the Hebrew, but not the English, in mirror image.

Hmmm....

My 'Secret Santa' thinks I need a snowblower

Quote:

You may not have 300 feet of suburban homeowner's concrete paradise to clear, but it sounds like you could find some use for this early gift from santa:

Something tells me that my Secret Santa is not familiar with the concept of doorman buildings.

Shake Virtual Gift Exchange - Technical Difficulty

In other words - OOOOPS! Even Santa Worm can mess up.

I'm SOOOOOO sorry!
Yesterday a gift was mis-routed. A gift intended for Redlass wrongly went to Cristina1.

I've sent both Redlass and Cristina their correct gifts now. If you can help me by changing the posts in the threads.

And thanks so much for to the elf who brought this to my attention.
