| | "Concorde" (lateral thinking puzzler) | | Yet another one from Paul Sloane's Lateral Thinking Puzzles:
A businessman had an important business meeting that led him to fly by Concorde from London to New York.
When he left home in the morning, his wife drove him to the airport and accompanied him to the check-in. She then waved good-bye as he went through to Passport Control and the Departure Lounge. She did some shopping at the airport shops and returned to the car at which time she saw the Concorde take off on time.
His flight on Concorde from London to New York was of course a direct flight. When he reached New York, he went directly through Immigration and Customs. He had no baggage to collect as he only took a briefcase for his short trip. He went through to the arrivals hall and there waiting to greet him was his wife! It was only that morning that she had seen him off. She had not flown nor taken a boat so how could she be there to meet him? |

| | Re: "Concorde" (lateral thinking puzzler) | | Did his flight from London to New York take him over the Atlantic? Or over the Pacific?
Was the time of his flight the normal time it would have taken the Concorde to fly from London to New York? (Whatever that was - I can't look it up on Orbitz because the Concorde isn't flying anymore.)
The wife did not get to New York via airplane or boat. Did she use any of the following?
Dirigible?
Rocket car?
Space shuttle?
Star Trek matter-to-energy transporter?
Time travel machine?
Hovercraft?

Dirigible? No.
Rocket car? No.
Space shuttle? No.
Star Trek matter-to-energy transporter? No. I wish someone would hurry up and invent that, though.
Time travel machine? No.
Hovercraft? No. |

| | Re: "Concorde" (lateral thinking puzzler) | | Btw, I looked up the time -- the London-to-New York flight would've been less than 3 1/2 hours. |

Correct? Yes! It would've meant a long day for both of them, but it's doable. Nice job, Eye. | | |
