| | "The Deadly Drawing": lateral thinking puzzle | | Another one from Paul Sloane's Super Lateral Thinking Puzzles:
A woman walked into a room and saw a new picture there. She immediately knew that someone had been killed. How?
As always, if you already know the answer, sit back and enjoy watching other people guessing. |

| | Re: "The Deadly Drawing": lateral thinking puzzle | | Ok, I'm posting!
Was there special significance to the room that she walked into?
Was it a room in the police station?
A room in the homicide department?
Was it a room at the local newspaper - a room were perhaps they had photos for obituaries.
Did the picture have anything special on it - like a memorial ribbon? |

Was it a photo that the mortician was trying to use to rebuild the "face". |

| | Re: "The Deadly Drawing": lateral thinking puzzle | | The person who painted the picture had died. When an artist dies, his work becomes more valuable, therefore, when the woman walked into the gallery of valuable art, and saw a new picture, she determined that the artist must be dead.

| | Re: "The Deadly Drawing": lateral thinking puzzle | | When you say 'she immediately knew that someone had been killed', do you mean to imply that she knew that someone had died of other than natural causes?
Was the person who had been killed depicted in the picture in question? |

Interesting solution, but sorry, no.
When you say 'she immediately knew that someone had been killed', do you mean to imply that she knew that someone had died of other than natural causes? Most likely, yes.
Was the person who had been killed depicted in the picture in question? Yes (in a manner of speaking). |

| | Re: "The Deadly Drawing": lateral thinking puzzle | | Was the drawing done in chalk on the floor? Yes, as part of a crime scene. Not an exact representation of the victim by any means, but clear enough.
