She's tapping out the dialogue (or narration or whatever) for him; it's a two-act play with a ten minute intermission, during which she takes her hand off of his knee and heads off to the ladies' room.
(It's unrealistic, of course, because the lines at the ladies' room are so long that she won't, in fact, be back by the end of the intermission and will, in fact, miss half of the second act because the theater management doesn't realize that women just need more time, damn it, and ought to have more bathrooms.) |
