Well, I do automatically default to the picture they think adults would find.
But, it did not take me long to recognize the dolphins!

I had to search really hard before I saw the dolphins and even once I started seeing them, I couldn't keep them in focus long enough to see as many as they said were there.

Okay - I saw 8, but only 'cuz I didn't perceive #9 as a dolphin. The blob between it and #2 throws off the picture and makes #9 look like just a smear or blob.
But no, they were not the first thing I saw!

It makes me think of the word signs you see sometimes where a partial outline is printed (or created with raised wood) so that you have to unfocus to see the letters in the blank spaces.

I have a hard time believing that a child can't see the man and woman. They may not know what they are doing, but it seems hard not to notice.
I have the strongest urge to ask my son what he sees, but I am afraid it wont be the dolphins
