| | Lateral Thinking Puzzle: Dali's Brother | | Picked up a GREAT puzzles book at B&N today, and of course I have to share! Here's one to tickle your minds, and it's a bit of art history to boot! (Betcha Wormie already knows the answer. ) Dali's Brother
Some time after Salvador Dali's death, his younger brother became famous as (believe it or not!) a surrealist painter. This younger brother had great international success and the word "genius" was used to describe him. His name was Dali and he did not change it. Yet today, the world remembers only one Dali and few people even know that he had a brother. Why is this?

| | Re Lateral Thinking Puzzle: Dali's Brother | | I know the answer. I Googled to make sure I wasn't on crack, but I really do know it.
More information stored in my brain that prevents me from remembering my own phone number and where I left my keys. |

Yes, there was a previous Salvador. That one died at age 7, and the one we know was born 9 months later. According to the article at Wikipedia, his parents took him to the grave and told him he was his brother's reincarnation. And we wonder why his paintings were so weird?
IIRC, basically the same thing happened to Van Gogh, although probably minus the reincarnation thing. I know it was just how things were done back thing, but to visit a grave with your own name on it is bound to mess up a kid for life!
Okay, I'll try to find a better one.

| | Re Lateral Thinking Puzzle: Dali's Brother | | Dali's odd. I have a book that I got last year when there was a big Dali exhibit in PA when I was there and it was disturbing reading about, let alone looking at his work.
That was truly a guess...my second guess was that his MIDDLE name was Dali!
