I have my doubts about the mini-blind one though. The cord is on the right, the stick is on the left. And as far as adjusting the space between the slats, I think the cord does that, the stick adjusts which way the slats are slanting. If that makes any sense.

I got it wrong, but they're right - the cord pulls the slats up or down, but when you want more space between the slats where they are, you'd use the stick.
I got it wrong too, I guess I look at it as pulling the slats up and down is changing the space between the slats, since the space itself doesn't really change when you turn the stick, just the angle of the slat.

well yeah, but when you adust the angle, the slats can move from touching edges to a big sunlight-allowing gap, so technically the space has increased - maybe not the space at the center pivot point of each slat, but the space between the edges has changed.

I see what you mean, but it still seems confusing to me exactly what they're asking. I would think there would be a better way to phrase it. Not to mention the fact that technically, the cord is on the right while the stick is on the left.
