| | Bra Shopping... HELP LADIES! :) | |
Ok, I'd appreciate any help I can get here...
Ladies... I need help. I need well-supporting, DD, demi-bras. I can't stand full-coverage bras, because they're ugly, and they stick out of my shirts (a la Erin Brochovich).
Good colors, lace, and prints are a plus. Must be underwire.
Why can't I find this anywhere?
I've never shopped at Fredrick's. I don't know about that store...
I shopped at Vickie's for a million years, but I don't think they have very high quality merchendise. $30 and up for a bra that won't last isn't something I want to do any more.
Help, help, help! Don't laugh, but it sucks to have nice boobs and then have to shove them into ugly full-coverage, beige, white, or black missle covers. And that seems to be my choice. Vickies, or ugly full-coverage bras.
(And why in the hell do they add an extra hook once you go from a C cup to a D? That makes the bra look so... grandma like. Yech!)
Anything I can buy online is a plus too, since I know I only have department stores or Vickies near me.
Thanks. |

| | Here's a possibility. I don't wear these brands, so I have no idea what the quality might be, but they are beautiful and come in the fuller sizes.
I can sympathize with your quest . . . I love pretty lingerie too.
Deb

| | Wow... 32C up through 40-something E!!! That's a good selection of sizes! I liked a lot of the stuff I saw on there too. Of course, I managed to pick out all $56 bras. That look so pretty, and they would definately have my size, but I'll have to think long and hard before I start spending that kind of money on them
I will keep them in mind. They had some fantastic sets! There were some bras on sale, but still in the $30 price range.
Sigh. If only I were rich... |

| | Good bras are expensive--but in the long run, they are worth it! Especially for voluptuous women who may have/develop back problems.
There's a really good bra line that Oprah touts, based in Chicago I think. Anyone remember what it's called? She's given the bras away on her show before (or rather certificates to go get fitted for a free bra).

| | Gotta agree with Naomi.
Honestly, I wouldn't dream of spending less than $50 for a bra. And if you're a DD, you're going to need quality to get adequate support.
I'd also hesitate to order on-line unless you've worn the particular brand before. Bras need to be properly fitted.
Are you sure there aren't any high-end, lingerie boutiques near you? Have you checked the Yellow Pages? |

| | I've been there, Margaret. I was a DD before I had a breast reduction in my mid 20s, down to a C. I remember the thrill of putting on my first pretty little bra with sheer fabric, one little hook and no underwire. Went absolutely bra nuts for years!
I never had much luck in my DD days of getting away from the Super Hold, multi hook bras, but I wouldn't doubt there are many more options today. Agree with the advice not to buy online. You need a good store and a good saleslady to get you fitted properly. Maximum fit for minimum material!
Good luck!
Andrea

| | Bah. I don't know what my problem is, but I definately couldn't let someone fit me for a bra. Ok, I do know what my problem is... I'd feel naked. Sheesh. I can't even stand to put on a gown for my doctors and let them do their jobs! I don't care if they measure me with my bra on. I can't do it.
And if I ever buy a fifty dollar bra, I'm going to wear it outside my clothes In fact, I'd have to wear just my bra when I went out I hate paying $30 for bras! I can't imagine spending more.
I think bra makers must have little boobs. They're jealous of girls with big boobs, so they make the big girl bras in ugly colors, with a bazillion hooks, and more fabric than a sail on a sailboat.
I bought one Fredrick's bra today. I'll try that one out. It was $20. And it's pretty. That's all I care about.
Actually fredricks has a lot of nice ones. One was even a front hook! And it came in hooter's-waitress-sized. Way cool. That's not the one I got though. I guess deep down inside I know it'll have to have three hooks on the back, or I'll be popping out the front of it. |

| | I don't know about pics, Slick, but I'm pretty sure a guy I know can hack her order and we can get pics of what she ordered.
You know, I always thought bra-fitting was a cool job. The Victoria's Secret at the mall had a big event where women could go in and get fitted properly. Apparently, it was a single sex event, even if all the best designers are men.
And did you know they have private security during those events? I mean, not that I know, -- I'm just guessing. |

| | I read the most interesting thing about Victoria's Secret! I found this in a book I was going to review, about transsexuals(men who have sex changes).
In this book, it said that Victoria's Secret sells more large-size bras to male cross-dressers than it does to women. They apparently shop by cataloge because of the privacy and the good return policy.
Isn't that an interesting tidbit?

Hey, Slick. I'm old and still perky. Youth always thinks they have the advantage and are the most desireable, but like fine wine women (as a million of people have said) only get more precious with age. Precious is so much better than precocious and the extra experience never hurts either.

| | If anyone is bra shopping for themself, I found a good deal... www.onehanesplace.com has bali bras bogo, and if you use code 62495 you'll get $5 off, and you can shop thru ebates to get $2 back (I believe).
I would have bought, but they don't have anything that I find sexy there. There was a pretty one there, but it's full coverage.
HTH someone though, as I'm sure we all have different tastes on bras. |

| | as a fellow DD+I have to say I actually like the Just My Size bras I get at walmart for under $20. I HATE HATE HATE underwires and those are the ONLY large sized bras that I can find that don't have underwires but still support me. Lace is itchy-I can live without it.
but those other sites are tempting
Fridai-not quite as young and perky as she used to be :p
