| | $30 Land's End reversible down jacket | | Someone posted this deal to a newsgroup I read, and it sounded pretty good!
Men's reversible down jacket, $29.99 http://www.landsend.com/cd/ov/prod/0...55295293150090
Women's reversible down jacket, $29.99 http://www.landsend.com/cd/ov/prod/0...55295293150090
So far, size/color selection is still pretty good for both those choices. The Overstock section for Men and Women also list down parkas (slightly longer length) also for $30, but selection is more limited there.

| | I'm thinking about this now. I always love these jackets, but I've never purchased one because I fear I'll look like the Michilin man.
If I do end up looking like him, does anyone know if you can return Lands End online orders to Sears? |

Have you tried that Virtual Model thing to see how clothes would look? There's a link you can click to personalize a model with your body type, hair, etc. Personally, I wouldn't worry about looking a little puffy in a winter jacket. That's to be expected, and the trade-off of being toasty warm is worth it, IMO.

| | Yes, I tried it. Surprisingly, my model looked more like me than I'd care to admit
It's really not the fact that it's a winter jacket that is worrying me.
Quite honestly, I love this type of jacket on the people I've seen it on, but, I worry about the horizontal lines on myself.
It will prolly be fine. If it's not, I'll prolly just give it to my mom It's a lot easier than returning something. (My goal in life is to never set foot in my post office again since the employees there are so terrible, but that's another thread). |

| | I got our jackets this afternoon, that was quick. They're very nice--poofy, but very lightweight and toasty. The pockets are zippered on the quilted side (but not on the smooth side) and there's an extra zippered pocket on the smooth side near the chest area. And it's machine-washable, yay! My only minor complaint is that I wish the cuffs at the sleeves were wider, with more elastic. We got the one that was medium blue on the quilted side, black on the smooth side.
My husband was very pleased with his and will begin using it right away.

| | I bought the dark lilac and greyish colored one. I didn't turn it inside out because I don't like the greyish color. The sleeves were really huge on mine. I wish the elastic was tighter if anything. I will definately get snow down the sleeves while shoveling and doing other snow activities.
It was also bigger than I expected. I think I would have bought a smaller size if I had tried the jacket on. Live and learn. However, it's fine to wear. I'm not going to bother to exchange it.
I haven't worn it outside yet, but it felt really toast when I tried it on, and it felt very cozy.
Best of all, I don't look like the michilin man in it. I thought it was actually slimming. |

| | I don't have need for a down jacket, but what a bargain!
I've bought a lot from Lands-End, and I'm very satisfied with their quality and service. I think that they have the best customer service of any on-line/catalog retailer that I've dealt with! Delivery is very fast!
Margaret - if you don't like it - you can't return to Sears, you'll have to ship it back to Land-End, but they are very fast in processing returns. Remember - the jacket is reversible, so you don't have to have any horizontal lines showing! |

| | I hate to admit this, but, I'm the type of person who'd eat a $30 loss, rather than go to the god-darned post office and see those incompetant farks that work there. Sorry. My post office sucks rotten eggs.
I'm going to use this jacket, though, so I don't have to worry about that. |

| | Well, I got the one I ordered for my husband in time for both our anniversary and an eight inch snowfall. He is Mr. Picky himself but he liked this jacket! He said it was definitely warm today as he used the snow blower. Great tip and thank you arianj

| | You're welcome! It was a neat deal...and it's nice having a place to post them so I feel less guilty getting it now that you all are buying one, too.
