Shop Till You Drop! Yeah. I know you're not supposed to shop online using company resources. But, if you're going to do it, you may as well save some money.

Bargain Hunting with the Maven

I actually got a good look at myself the day before yesterday, and I was shocked. I knew my pants were fitting more loosely than they were, and I knew I had lost weight, but, I really didn't think it was showing.

Then, I went to my dr's apt. I was hobbling on crutches, so I looked super pathetic anyway. Then I saw my reflection in the glass doors of the Dr's office. My pants looked like they were going to fall off! I looked so frumpy! I felt like I looked like a clown! (It got worse before I could leave the office, but that's another story )

It's funny how your body can change but you can't see yourself for what you really look like sometimes. I knew I *could* wear the next smaller size, but, I didn't realize I needed to!

So, tonight I went bargain shopping for some cute things for Spring.

Here are some items from my new wardrobe (that hopefully everything will fit perfectly and I'll be keeping )

(I got Khaki, however)

(Yep, I'm buying colors. Bright colors even. Wow! Bought the top and the skirt! NO BLACK, OMG)

(A zebra can't completely change her stripes... I need SOME black, LOL)

And a aqua colored long sleeve top that I can't find now.

All of these are available at www.lernercatalog.com (same company as Lerner and NY & Company at the mall) and none of it was very expensive.

I'm broke this month from all my freaking $30 copays adding up, so it was a pleasant surprise that not only was the bill for the clothes low, but, I also have 90 days to pay! Phew. Cause I'm broke right now, and would not have been shopping if it wasn't a fashion emergency.

(Edited to fix the link for the site)

Ok, before you scrunch your nose up -- technically, I'm supposed to wear scrubs (I refuse), white pants, or any "appropriate" outfit I want (ie, as long as I'm covered) and wear a lab coat over it.

I break the dress code all of the time, but, I try to stick with it. The easiest way (since I get too hot with my lab coat on) is to wear white stretch jeans. I know, ick, ick, ick, reminds me of the 80s, but, it means I can wear whatever shirt I want, and not have to wear a lab coat.

So, that explains why I bought these in white:

This skirt is fantastic, although, I decided not to buy that shirt, LOL.

Butt-lifting pants, LOL. I don't know why I bother. I don't have a butt.

Those are the only things I remember buying so far... but, I think I bought more.

They were super-cheap too. I bought them all from www.newport-news.com. I don't know how good their quality is since we don't have one of those in my mall. Hopefully, it's all good stuff!

I'll post more pics if I remember what else I bought.

This is fun!

I love those white pants that you got in khaki - especially since I'm finding it harder and harder to find pants I like at the mall. (pants I like = classic fit, not legs a mile wide or a waist down by my butt crack )

Margaret, I've gotten things from Newport News catalog in the past - they are pretty decent for the price.

Enjoy and congrats on the size loss...as well as going out on a limb and getting some color into your life!

Lynn

That's why I like Lerner and NY&Co. The just have the "right" clothes. They're not too juniorish, and not too old lady-ish. They're just right. In addition, they seem to stick with classic looks reworked to whatever the trend is. That sounds more confusing that it should. They seem to work with materials and cuts that flatter, and find ways to incorporate the current trends into the materials and cuts. So, the result is something that is flattering and trendy.

I'm sane I just couldn't believe it was *me* when I saw my reflection. I looked so bad! I had to do SOMETHING!

Good. They'll last me until I get down to the next size down then!

Color is a scary thing, but I've been doing more and more of it lately. Black, grey, and browns still account for 90% of my clothing, however. I doubt that will ever change completely.

Lerner's is the best place to stock up when you've just lost a size or two or three. You can stock up there.

Good job!

Lerner sucked. Newport News sucked too. Not quite as bad.

I can't believe this is the same Lerner as the Lerner I buy from at the mall. All the fabric is kleenex thin. Yuck.

It's all going back. Wave buh-bye.

Disappointed Margaret who is off to Marshall's and the real Lerner at some point this week, who DREADS store shopping.
