Naomi brought up the short waist problem. Wearing the wrong clothes on a body with a short waist can make one look heavier than they are. There's no need for this, however!
Tops The Bad: Shirts that fit as well as a sack...
Boxy Cardigan
Good A Deep V-Neck
Corset-Style Tops
Wrap Shirts
Why:
Shapeless shirts, much like wearing a flour sack, do nothing to flatter the figure. You might not have an incredibly exaggerated hourglass shape, but, there's no reason to make yourself look like a gigantic rectangle either!
A deep V creates an illusion by cutting up the torso, making it look longer.
A corset to works because it exaggerates the lines of the hourglass shape.
A wrap top, due to its cut, will create the illusion of curves -- especially if it ties at the waist. The tie allows them to exagerate the out at the breast, in at the waist, out at the hip curve.
