Shop Till You Drop! Yeah. I know you're not supposed to shop online using company resources. But, if you're going to do it, you may as well save some money.

Andrea, Where were those darned lamps?

My neice is buying her first house, and I want to get her a nice house warming gift. Cute kid! I asked what she could use, and she sent me a link for a $14.99 clock. I can spend a little more on her than that! She mentioned needing lamps and a clock.
I know that Ducky posted a link for lamps, and I searched for it, but I can't find it!

Did somebody say lamps? banana

Lamps Plus is a good store with a wide selection that I've purchased from.

Lamps Plus

I have lots of lamp sources, though. If you have an idea of what you want, I can send you another 20 places.

Re: Andrea, Where were those darned lamps?

Oh Cool! Yeah! I need something reasonably priced (but more than $14.99). She indicated something simple and silver toned. I'm thinking 2 table lamps would be nice - or maybe a matching floor and table lamp. My own style leans more towards gold. And I love those danglie beaded shades. I think she probably would go for something simple but elegant.
If you have any suggestions the inchworm and I would be grateful!

Overstock has a nice selection of lamps, and some awesome deals.

Overstock.com

(the link above takes you through the EA affiliate)

A simple swing arm set like this (nice starter lamps) is $39.99 + 2.95 shipping.

There are 9 pages of lamps to look through. Not comprehensive, but there could be just thing thing.

I'll be back with more.

Andrea

I've never bought lamps from Target because I wasn't looking to buy starter lamps, I was looking for my Lamps of a Lifetime. The thing I love about buying household things from Target is their consumer reviews are VERY good. I trusted the reviews for the rugs I bought on a number of occasions and they were spot on.

Target.com

Target has a small selection of attractive, moderately priced lamps. DON'T ORDER FROM THEM IF YOU ARE IN A RUSH.. Your order comes when it comes and they don't seem to be able to control it or even particularly care. I've never been put in a bind because of it...all I've ever ordered is long term stuff for the house, but my rugs have sometimes taken 3+ weeks, FYI.

Now, for serious lamp shopping:

Great bargains on high quality Lamps of a Lifetime at

http://www.lightnleisure.com/levelon...loor_lvl_1.asp

Light N Leisure. I've ordered from them a couple of times.

The Bright Spot:

http://www.thebrightspot.com/

I got my Mission Maple lamps from them. Really nice family business...ended up having a few email exchanges with the owner. I'll be happy to order from them again. Their bargain rooms do have bargains...again, these are Lamps of a Lifetime at good prices.

For kicks:

Expensive fun and funky, Swoopshades.

http://www.point2me.com/swoopshades

REAL Tiffany!

http://www.macklowegallery.com/tiffa...s_frameset.htm

No prices. If you have to ask, you can't afford it, and I'd have to ask.

'kay, Wormie, here's an apple for you.

Famous Green Apple Table Lamp
LL609CB
One of our most authentic Tiffany reproductions and a Landmark Lighting best seller. Sometime around 1890 Louis Comfort Tiffany was sketching still life. He took a green apple and placed it on a bronze vase. He then sketched a leafy shade over it like the array of an apple tree in full summer bloom. The sketch served as a template for the drawings to create the Green Apple Lamp. This is a stunning lamp and Landmark's reproduction is both well made and authentic. The vase and the green apple are hand cast zinc with a Classic Bronze finish. The shade is 100% Kokomo, IN formula art glass both copper foiled and hand leaded. End table size: 24" tall, 16" diameter, 2 x 75-watts on nice pullchain system. This lamp is also pretty enough to stand alone as a room decorating center-piece. #LL609CB Sale Price $166.00 plus $13.95 UPS - 6 only

!sigh

Me want.

Andrea
who is really going to bed now

Re: Andrea, Where were those darned lamps?

Oh Geez! I love those lamps for me! Thanks, Andrea! I wish I had a photo of my livingroom lamps. They are gorgeous! We got them at an art show from a ceramics artist. They are fun and funky. Maybe I'll take a digital photo and post them later.
Those Overstock lamps are nice for a basic. Not expensive, and practical. I'm expecting an engagement announcement from her soon, and I know I'll go nuts with her shower and wedding gifts (plus travelling there for the shower and wedding). She's trying to not get too much now so that she can register for the wedding soon. I'll send her the pics from oversock. If she likes them, maybe I'll go with them. Then I can go fancier for the wedding gift - after she knows what she really wants.
I'll let you know! You're the best!

Re: Andrea, Where were those darned lamps?

Andrea! You started it! For the new house I am going to be running these by hubby:

http://www.thebrightspot.com/itemdet...p?ID=TF6765BVB - for the bedroom , which is done in white sand paint ceiling, natural wood trim, exposed beams, slant ceiling, amethyst purple walls

http://www.thebrightspot.com/itemdetail.asp?ID=SCFL1906 - for the living room, natural trim, high ceiings, exposed beams, aspen mist pale green paint on walls and stone fireplace, natural wood furniture with hunter green and black fabric (or black leather on some)

See what you started! And I've only just begun to look, so those could change at any time, of course...

Re: Andrea, Where were those darned lamps?

Oh! She seems like those basic overstock lamps. I could get off really cheap here, and for some reason I'm pushing her to get fancier ones. Off to e-mail more pics.

How did I do?

The lamps were delivered yesterday. I think I got a REAL bargain.
Sent these:

Two for $34.99 at SmartBargains (normally $99)
also sent:

Don't love the clock, but it's similar to a pic that she sent me, and I saved so much on the lamps.

Once she moves in, I have a Welcome Rock for her porch to ship too.

I had a good experience with SmartBargains!
