Shop Till You Drop! Yeah. I know you're not supposed to shop online using company resources. But, if you're going to do it, you may as well save some money.

Another Ebay Question

If you had an auction, and you state that you want payment within 2 days after the auction closes...what do you do if that time frame passes, you send a payment reminder to the winner, and receive no communication from them, no payment, etc?

Do you do a second chance offer to the next person in line whose bid was outdone by the winner, that has not paid?

Or, do you just contact Ebay, advise them of the situation, mark the person for no pay/no show, etc.?

Thanks!

Re: Another Ebay Question

First off, two days is awfully short turnaround. A week is more reasonable.

That being said, if you state a timeframe and the buyer doesn't comply or respond, I would probably give them a little bit of leeway. They may have PC problems, they may have an illness in the family, etc., I guess I would err on the side of "they want to complete the transaction" instead of "they are trying to hose me". I would send a second reminder, stating strongly that you will report them to eBay as non-paying if they don't respond/pay by xx date.

Then I would follow through.

Re: Another Ebay Question

Agree w/Lynn - definitely state that you will be filing a non-paying bidder report if they have not paid by X date. Then follow through with it. It's amazing how many people suddenly reappear when that NPB report appears. (And it's also amazing how many don't.)

Re: Another Ebay Question

I was just curious! I have only been doing this for over 2 weeks now, and have only recently had limited success actually selling a few small items.

I saw where people stated "payment required 2 days after auction close" and it actually, for me, seemed pretty ok, but I wasn't sure. My auctions closed Sunday night and I just sent the payment "reminder" last night. I haven't been home to check email, so I have no idea if they have responded or anything.

I was just kind of curious what happens if...

I know when I did buy something months back, it took me about 5 days to finalize the payment, but I contacted the seller & told him paypal was taking a long time crediting the money that I transferred to paypal (which, is nuts, IMO, because they hold my money for 2 or 3 days gaining the float, and THEN the credit my acct.) But, that's another topic for discussion!

Thanks Lynn for your insight!
