Shop Till You Drop! Yeah. I know you're not supposed to shop online using company resources. But, if you're going to do it, you may as well save some money.

I'm debating about that laptop at Wal-Mart. Any of you tech types know if it's a piece of junk or a decent one?

Lynn, I'll go check it out, but you might want to ask nc10 or ivplay via PM. I'm not sure how often they stop in, but both are always happy to answer questions like that.

Just looked at it, and at some online forums. The specs are good for that price, and there are no rebates involved, which is always a bonus. That's just the flat price.

I'm not to familiar with the Pavillion line... and some boards said that it's 25 per store. How early do you want to stand in line?

Well, after looking at all the ads today (hotel graciously gives a perk Mpls Star/Trib) there are a bunch of laptops around the same price, around the same specs. Office Depot's isn't an early morning sale, so may be able to snag it.

$380 seems pretty good. Its a pretty low end laptop, cpu, hard drive, memory but as long as that fits your needs it should be ok.

I looked at the 2000 series manual at the HP website, to see if it has a free memory slot to make memory upgrades cheaper, I couldn't tell for sure, but I think you should be able too. Looks like Best Buy has a comparable Toshiba model for $380 (but I woudn't want to wish going there Friday morning on anyone). Office Depot here is offering a $350 model, but its after $200 in rebates.

Is that the same Toshiba model I reviewed, do you know? If so, it's not bad. I wouldn't want to run Photoshop on it, but other than that, it's a decent little machine.
