| | Re The Good Buy Holiday Bargain Guide | | I guess that I determine the term "good buy" differently.
I always prefer the sales where you get 20% off EVERYTHING (like the Friends and Family Days that different retailers have--JC Penney, Sears, Aeropostale, etc.)
Because maybe I don't want to buy hairdryers or Calvin Klein suits as gifts...maybe I want to browse through a store or a website and say AHHHHHHHHHH, now that's what I want, and know that no matter what product I have chosen, it will be 20% off...
But I will try to add something productive to the discussion. I recently learned of a website called EvRewards. If you put in an online retailer, it will let you know every rebate program, points program, and online coupon the retailer is offering, and which ones are best for that retailer.
And if you're a Fat Wallet member, you may see that Ebates offers 2% more and still stick with Fat Wallet--that's up to you (I belong to 3 rebate sites and Upromise, so I pick the best of the 4.)
And if you put in a site that doesn't participate in rebate programs, like Amazon, you'll still get the deal list: Quote:
Purchase a Yamaha YSP-1 Speaker and Receive a Free Yam... until 2/01
$10 off any Grocery purchase of $49 at Amazon until 11/30 Code: GROCERY3
$25 off Kitchen and Bath Products at Amazon.com

| | Re The Good Buy Holiday Bargain Guide | | OK, not a gift but if you need to buy plates for the holidays (like I did), Pfaltzgraff stores are having a $10-off deal on the 16-piece sets (four cups, four bowls, four lunch plates, four dinner plates). My set was on sale for $49.99, got to the store and it was on sale for $39.99, then they took the $10 off, so I now have service for 12 instead of service for 8.
Hubby says I keep inviting more people over for Thanksgiving because I want to buy more dishes. But even he couldn't complain about $29.99 plus tax. I shoulda snuck in some serving dishes...

| | Re The Good Buy Holiday Bargain Guide | | MJ, it's like deja vu all over again. How can one have too many dishes? (Or flatwear. Did I say how much I love having 14 place settings of my stainless flatware? We fed that many people at Gary's birthday party last night!)
If I want more matching china, I must haunt ebay and pray to the Gods of Corelle by Corning.

| | Re The Good Buy Holiday Bargain Guide | | I <3 Replacements.
Expensive as all hell, but they have EVERYTHING. G had this wicked heavy everyday flatware he loves and we cannot find anything else even close. I was able to find some of it (and cleaned them out) at Replacments. |

| | Re The Good Buy Holiday Bargain Guide | | My mom has a real Replacements addiction. I won't tell her they are online because then I'd spend all my time shopping for her.

| | Re The Good Buy Holiday Bargain Guide | | My grandmother's pattern (which is technically old but not antique, but almost) is there, which is how I started with them. Expensive, though, for my pattern - three cereal bowls with minor defects = $75 plus shipping. But now Pfaltzgraff is discontinuing Christmas Heritage this year so odds are I'll be using them more in the years to come.
