Holy Hell. I can't believe this.

Tivo used to have the option to buy your box with a lifetime subscription fee. We were dummies, weren't sure we were going to like it, and didn't do it. Of course, Tivo cancelled that now, which is why Tivos like the one MJ was looking at for free are going for upwards of 3 and 4 hundred dollars on eBay.

However, they are offering current subscribers the opportunity to get the new HD Tivo and a lifetime subscription for themselves and anyone else they want.

It ain't cheap, and it has to be done by 1/7, but

Careful. From what I've heard, it's for the lifetime of the box. If the box dies, your lifetime fees are lost too.

Yes, it is for the life of the box. Which also means if you sell it to upgrade to the next one, it goes with the box.
