Shop Till You Drop! Yeah. I know you're not supposed to shop online using company resources. But, if you're going to do it, you may as well save some money.

Free Post It's - Handicapped Fraud .org

HandciappedFraud.org is giving away free post-its to put on cars windows when the car is parked in a handicapped parking zone w/out the license plate or the hang tag identifying they are handicapped & allowed to park in that spot.

Handicapped Parking Fraud - Handicapped Parking Violators - Help Make a Difference

I hope that all made sense.

Re Free Post It's - Handicapped Fraud .org

I see they're reporting people who have current (non-expired) tags who "appear to be normal." Unfortunately a lot of people who need handicapped spots "appear to be normal" and can have issues with carrying bags long distances or fatigue issues (like in multiple sclerosis). I'm afraid a lot of people who legitimately use the spots will get lumped in with the scofflaws.

If people do it right, but that is part of the problem. Some don't see the license plates, or see the hanging tags...that would be an issue.

They say that if you inadvertently report someone who has the right to that handicapped space, nothing will happen to them -- except being annoyed by the post-it.

Re Free Post It's - Handicapped Fraud .org

Back when I worked at UAB's Office for Handicapped Students, my boss gave me some cards that I really liked. Wish I could remember the whole spiel. Something like, "I'm sorry, but being an idiot who can't read the handicapped signs doesn't entitle you to park in a handicapped spot". Worded much better than that.

But I would never put either of them, or report someone, who has a sticker/license, hang tag but "looks" normal, because I do know that some people have hidden disabilities that give them the right to use the spaces. Well, maybe if it was some buff teeny-bopper that was completely, totally, obviously not handicapped in any form, but not the average person out there.

Just one thing to say about the teeny-bopper. JRA. On a good day. Wouldn't do it to them either unless I knew they were using someone else's tags.

Do you actually see people parking in handicapped spaces that you don't think should be? Everyone I see has the hang tag. If they got the hang tag, I think they're probably entitled to use it, even if I don't see their disability.

It's definitely gotten better here. I can't think of the last time I saw someone parking in a HC space that didn't have a sticker or a hangtag.

Re Free Post It's - Handicapped Fraud .org

We have very aggressive policing locally, so there just isn't much of a problem. We also have mandated minimum numbers of handicapped spaces, so most facilities have plenty of them. They may not be the closest spaces to the door, BTW. Sometimes they're a little further away with curb cuts and extra-wide spaces for side exit with a wheelchair.
