Discover is an interesting credit card to have. I don't use it that often, but find they have some interesting promotions (like the different months of the year when you get 5% cashback on gasoline, or restaurants, etc.)
When I went to pay my bill today, I saw that they now have a rebate site, too.
Most of you probably belong to a rebate site already (my favorite is mrrebates) but what's interesting about this one is that all the rebates are either 5%, 10%, or 20%.
On the rebate site I belong to, there are lots of retailers offering rebates that are less than 5%--but 5% is the Discover rebate site's minimum.
Hotwire, for example. If I buy a few plane tickets on Hotwire, I've probably spent $700, and the difference between 5% on Discover's rebate site and the 2% the other rebate sites offer is $21....
The rebate is deposited into your cashback account (and the last few times I cashed in on cashback I was able to get gift cards that were greater than the actual value--for example, I could have chosen $25 or a $30 gift card.)
I know I'll probably keep using mrrebates most of the time, but I will check the Discover rebate site and use it if it's better.
