Amy has this forum described as:

"A convivial meeting (place?) for drinking, music, and intellectual debate among our members."

I have noticed we are sadly lacking in the "drinking" and "music" part of this.

COME ON FOLKS! Step it up!

I'm listening to the Sounds of Silence (son and dog are outside on the far end of the property playing) and drinking an aquafina. And I'm posting in The Symposium

Well, I'm back on Phase I, so there's no heavy drinking, but I am presently listening to the Pogues while drinking black coffee, as the German's just can't do drinking songs like the Irish.

Took Jeremy and a friend to the hockey game tonite (we WON! Yay! Go Lancers!) I didn't have a beer at the game since I was driving, but now I'm having a margarita while I listen to the CD that Jer has playing in his room while he's drifting off to sleep (some country crap

Not quite sure I'm up for the intellectual debate part, however, unless someone wants to talk about how boys are icky (whoops, this isn't the girl's room, is it?

I'm sure most of you know this (and if you live anywhere near Baltimore, it's a requirement) but did you know that the Star Spangled Banner is actually sung to an British drinking tune called To Anacreon in Heaven?

Prior to the British Bombardment of Fort McHenry, the verse that now reads "O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave" used to read, "The Myrtle of Venus With Bacchus's Vine."

a huge portion of the hymns you've sung in church were based on old drinking songs. Everyone already knew the tunes, so people just gave 'em new words.
