Glory hallelujah and thank you Jesus!

Maybe this will cause everyone to really examine these guys. I hate NARTH. I love this line:

Quote:
NARTH is a coalition of psychologists who believe it's possible to "cure" homosexuality, a position rejected by the American Psychological Association and the American Medical Association. The controversy over Schoenewolf's apology for slavery has battered the so-called "ex-gay" movement with accusations of racial bigotry for the first time.

It coudln't have happened to a better guy. I wonder what he's going to do with his other foot?

They, as well as Exodus, are also under fire from the APA on the whole "informed consent" question, which they have been dodging.

You know what? I am surprised, a little at least. Not that this guy thinks that, but that he said it. NARTH and other orgs always try and sound reasonable, logical, and mainstream except for their "treatment" programs for LGB. Obviously he said what he really thinks, but then, these organizations don't exactly run on honesty.

I'm never surprised when excess crazy leaks out of other spots other than the main spout.

It perplexes me that people like Schoenewolf are able to become certified as psychologists....

Isn't one of the first things they learn is how necessary it is to offer support and encouragement without judgment?

Re Ex-gay groups branch out

I think what we're seeing is one of those odd phenomena that I've never been able to figure out. As the fringe social conservatives become more and more marginalized, they are starting to be more open, whether intentionally or not, about their true agenda, as if they wanted to demonstrate how far out of the mainstream they are. There was the instance this past week of a legislator in Virginia, I believe, making similar remarks during debate on a resolution about apologizing to American Blacks for slavery. And the "family" groups are now very open about going after family planning and contraception and divorce. (Hmm -- this last is in Virginia again -- tell you anything?) Sorry, folks, but racism has always been just under the surface for these creeps, but for a while it was masked fairly well by institutionalized homophobia.

Maybe they're afraid of alienating their base. After all, bigotry is a multi-millon dollar business.

Well, Paul Cameron was certified and licensed until his complete lack of ethics became so blatant that it could no longer be ignored.
